On March 14, 2012 I brought my 2004 Audi A4 into Autohaus Barrie to replace a suction hose attached to the power steering pump. Approximately 1 hour later the service manager Chris Cook informed me tha Barrie to replace a suction hose attached to the power steering pump. Approximately 1 hour later the service manager Chris Cook informed me that my clutch was burnt out, that the rack in pinion steering may have to be replaced all in all close to $5,500 in damage to the vehicle. Given the time and the fact the mechanic could not continue a diagnosis it was agreed that the vehicle would remain in its undriveable condition until the next day when the mechanic could review the damage done to the vehicle. The next day I returned to inspect the vehicle and to speak to the service manager, however, he was ill for the next 3 days and was unable to provide guidance or support to me. I therefore referred the matter to the newly appointed General Manager Walter Tucker who was able to provide an amicable solution to reduce the financial burden I would have endured to engage in these repairs. The people have are liars and try to con people .The promises that were made were never followed through. I am still fighting with them over an overpayment that they screwed me for. I have made at least promises that were made were never followed through. I am still fighting with them over an overpayment that they screwed me for. I have made at least 50 calls to resolve this, I can never talk to graham who was dealing with the issue on financing end of it. I get the run around when I call and messages that are left to return my calls are never responded to. This dealer has been horrible to deal with and I would be back there for any maintenance work. Truly the worst dealer I have ever had to deal with and hope no one else has to go through the same unpleasant experience I am going through! More
I brought my 2011 TDI in for an oil change - ask they only do a basic oil change and was quoted $115 + tax. I specifically said to the service rep for them not to do any additional work like tire rotatio only do a basic oil change and was quoted $115 + tax. I specifically said to the service rep for them not to do any additional work like tire rotation or inspections. When I pick the car up i was presented with a bill for $179. When I asked why it was so high the rep explained that it was because of the oil per litre that VW use. I then asked him to look up the cost of the last oil change I did and it was $115. He said "o you didn't tell us not to rotate the tires". This was the same service guy I spoke to that morning when I pointed that out to him he said o it must have slip my mind. The biggest joke of the whole issue is that they didn't even touch my tires never mind rotate them. They charge $50.00 more for something they didn't do. I will never take my car anywhere near this dealership again. I personally think the dealership is taking advantage of people who would be to embarrassed or polite to point out that they are being overcharged. More
Horrible experience. The dealership told me that the work wouldn't be covered under warranty, so I called VW Canada, they said it should be covered, but for some reason the dealership refused (apparentl work wouldn't be covered under warranty, so I called VW Canada, they said it should be covered, but for some reason the dealership refused (apparently VW needsthe technician at the dealer to approve the work) So I took it to another dealer and they covered it under warranty. I went to Autohouse Barrie today with the intention of buying a car but things did not go well. I was dealing with a salesman things were going fine, I thought we would come to an agreed price and then ca buying a car but things did not go well. I was dealing with a salesman things were going fine, I thought we would come to an agreed price and then came the " heavy weight " some other person that never introduced himself neve explained why the salesman disapeared, accusing me of giving them an insulting offer, yet minutes before the salesman gave the impression we were very close to an agreement ??? I can't understand why the dealership was so unfriendly, they never called me to discuss my visit, no follow up at all ? Friends and colleaques told me not to go to the Barrie Audi dealership, they prefer to buy from Newmarket or Woodbridge, but I thought I would give it a shot and deal locally. I would not recomend this dealership to anyone !! More
In the last 4 years, I have spent over $20,000 at this dealer on service work to my 2001 Jetta TDI. Every time we've taken the car in, the diagnosis seems to be far more grave than we'd anticipated. Bu dealer on service work to my 2001 Jetta TDI. Every time we've taken the car in, the diagnosis seems to be far more grave than we'd anticipated. But we've always gone ahead on their advice. The latest problem occurred when the car experienced reduced engine power just 3 days after spending $1500 on a new front end struts and springs. We had simply gone into get the muffler replaced but we were told the front end was in terrible shape and we shouldn't even drive it, In any case, when we went back to have the engine power reduction diagnosed, we were told we needed to replace the entire turbochareger at a cost of over $2400. We simply didn't have that money. We asked on at least 3 occasions if there could possibly be a less costly fix even for what might be a shorter time. The car has 300,000 Km. We were told there simply was nothing else that could be done. In a last ditch measure, we took the car to a small garage (not a VW dealer) The car was repaired in about an hour. The entire bill was $90.81. And it runs like a top. Apparently the waste gate was seized and needed to be freed up. Today I visited Autohaus Barrie and referring back to their written estimate which said the waste gate was seized, I again asked if it might be possible to fix the problem without replacing the entire turbocharger. I received the same answer. "It's an integrated unit and the only way to fix it is to replace the entire turbocharger." I then told them the car had been repaired and I also told them the dealership must be either very dishonest or very incompetent. I suspect the former. I'm left wondering how much of the previous $20,000 of work done at this dealership, was equally unnecessary. I'll not visit the dealership again. For that I'm sure they are grateful. But I shall pass this story on to everyone who may even be considering doing business there. Before we moved to Barrie, we dealt with Autohaus Orangeville, where we originally purchased the car. All our experiences there were extremely positive. I'm not sure how many people will see this note but I hope I've prevented at least one customer from falling into the same situation we've experienced. More
