I recently purchased a vehicle from their certified - Florant M
I recently purchased a vehicle from their certified pre-owned dealership: a Mercedes E-Class with low mileage, a clean Carfax, and overall in excellent condition. There were only a few issues, one of which is the reason I’m leaving this review.
The car was sold with their pre-purchase inspection report and invoices showing repairs that had supposedly been carried out by their own service department (Hyundai West Island).
One of the features that wasn’t working was the Blind Spot Assist system. They showed me an invoice and explained that one of the sensors had failed and that the wiring was corroded. They said they had replaced the faulty sensor and the damaged wire, but had not performed the required calibration, which is why the warning message was still present.
After purchasing the vehicle, I took it to Mercedes-Benz to have the rear blind spot radar system calibrated. To my surprise, Mercedes informed me that there were no blind spot radar sensors installed at all—only the wiring harnesses hanging loose behind the rear bumper.
I immediately contacted Hyundai West Island again. Once again, the salesperson told me there was nothing they could do because the vehicle had been sold “as is,” and that, in their opinion, a non-functioning system was the same as having no sensors installed.
After several unsuccessful attempts to reach the manager of the Certified Pre-Owned department, I decided to visit the dealership in person. Unfortunately, they still refused to take responsibility and insisted that a non-working system was no different from a system that was completely missing.
I sincerely hope I’m the only customer to have had such an experience, because it has been extremely frustrating, and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.
I strongly recommend against doing business with this dealership. I’ve lost time, money, and they’ve shown no concern about selling a vehicle supported by invoices from their own service department that do not accurately reflect the condition of the car.
To make matters worse, because the wiring was left exposed and disconnected, it most likely allowed water to enter the system. A fuse for the blind spot system has since blown, and it likely damaged the blind spot control module as well. Replacing the module is very expensive, and I will also have to repair the wiring and purchase new radar sensors.
