Second Time Just as Good as The First Time I recently purchased my second vehicle in a row from the Southbank team and on both occasions I went in thinking I wasn't buying, just looking, and de I recently purchased my second vehicle in a row from the Southbank team and on both occasions I went in thinking I wasn't buying, just looking, and demonstrates just how dedicated they are to getting you the best possible deal for their fantastic quality and selection of Chrysler/Dodge vehicles. While on the first occasion I was intent on purchasing one of the new generation Dodge Grand Caravans thus making the sale more likely, this second time around I was convinced I was just shopping as I was in a market for an SUV. I spent considerable time doing my research and came to understand that pretty much every manufacturer offers a SUV and for the most part, the differences between them boil down to a driver's personal preference on the look and feel. So I planned to spend the solid part of my weekend test driving pretty much each of them. I had arrived at Southbank after visiting Kia and Mazda. Plans were to take a test drive of the Dodge Journey, then head on to Ford, Subaru, and Nissan. Those plans fell apart after spending a significant part of the day under the care of Gustavo, who offered us a warm welcome and ready smile as we entered the showroom floor. We did indeed start our test drive with the Journey and it was a great ride, but didn't really wow me. It mostly felt like a smaller and modernized version of the Caravan. I should note the Caravan has been a fantastic family vehicle and still in the driveway for a while longer anyway as its usefulness is not yet exhausted. So the Journey was a nice drive in that it felt comfortably familiar, but also not what I was looking for in my pursuit for a new taste sensation in vehicles. When we got back to Southbank, I relayed this assessment to Gustavo and he then recommended I take a look at the Jeep Cherokee North. I had discounted the Jeep in my research phase for two key reasons: 1) the new 9-speed transmission had a lot of recorded problems in the 2014 model, and 2) it was a little outside of what I thought I wanted to spend to also get all the other comparable options being offered by the Journey, Outback, Forrester, and others of comparable lines. Kindly Gustavo has a bit of undeniable charm so with his urging and absolute assurances the early problems were software based and been permanently fixed, took one out for a test drive. To say I fell instantly in love would be an understatement - naturally tried to play it down after getting back to the showroom but damn I was instantly enamored with its responsiveness, power (V6 version), and the North options of heated seats, mirrors, steering wheel, and yes, I am a fan of the new look contrary to many Jeep purists! But this is not a site meant to rate the vehicle (get one!) but the dealership so back to the matter at hand. Even after the amazing test drive, I was still determined I wanted to try the other contenders. And with it now approaching noon, honestly informed them I had to leave to pick up my daughter from biathlon practice at Camp Fortune. Gotta hand it to Gustavo - he knows how to sell as he told me to keep the Jeep to go pick up my daughter. Which is what I did and this in essence sealed my love for this amazing vehicle and my determination that if I got the right deal I'd bite. Anyone who has driven the road through Chelsea to Camp Fortune knows how rough it can be but the Jeep ate it for breakfast! I truly laughed out loud a couple of times over the joy of its handling as I had after all just drove it this morning in my aging Caravan and the comparison was striking. So arrived back to the dealership and time for Kevin Spears to join Gustavo in helping arrive at a possible deal. I think I did pretty good at hiding my lust for the jeep and still put up some protests that I really should try out at least the Subaru options (which I did have very high and reasonable hopes I would find them to be a very worthwhile vehicle). It was clear they didn't want me doing that and so the back and forth began. Yes, the price I ended up paying was a bit higher than I likely would have paid for most of the other models in this class (well, there aren't really any in its class given this baby is fully loaded and V6) but we did arrive at a very fair price (0% financing - can't beat that - thanks Clayton!) and they threw in the winter tires on rims and a hitch (combined approx $2500 value parts/labour). I have to say it's very likely that I'll be getting my next vehicle at Southbank - that Caravan will have to be replaced sooner or later - and when it comes time to consider replacing the Jeep with perhaps another one, I hope they forget this review and how much I love this vehicle or I might not have any leverage for price at all... but you know what? I think they'll still do all they can to make sure I walk out with the confidence I've gotten a great vehicle at a great deal anyway! That's just simply how good they are! Buying a 2016 Ram1500 Sport I had looked all over the city of Ottawa for a new truck and after walking into South Bank and meeting with Tyler Campbell I knew my search was over.
