Every Customer Interaction Creates a Service Memory I purchased a new vehicle from Downsview Chrysler Ltd yesterday and the service was excellent. Peter Saija, the salesman, was excellent. There was of course the, to be expected, haggling over price, however Peter Saija was extremely polite and conscientious, and his after purchase follow through was excellent. This of course raises the question, why haven't I given Downsview Chrysler Ltd an excellent rating? And that has to do with my experience with Downsview Chrysler Ltd, are you ready for this, six years ago. Six years ago, I purchased a new vehicle which had an intermittent fob key problem. I'll spare you, dear reader, the gruesome details of the atrocious behaviour of Downsview Chrysler Ltd back then, but suffice to say, that if Downsview Chrysler Ltd was the only place to have vehicle service done, I would have immediately disposed of that vehicle, and I would have purchased another vehicle which was anything other than a Chrysler or Fiat product. I was able to find another, very conscientious dealer, back then, who rapidly and professionally replaced the defective fob key under warranty. And all warranty work was subsequently done by this other excellent dealer. I speak of experiences that are now between three and six years old. Current conditions may be vastly different. People, and work cultures, change. Customer service involves a complex amalgam of customer, dealer, and manufacturer. And the important point of this writing is to clearly express the destructive foolishness of poisoning a consumer relationship, over what likely had a manufacturer cost of under ten dollars. More
