Do not look for Simon or even buy a car in this dealership POOR EXPERIENCE I HATE THIS DEALERSHIP.. Sales representative: Simon Lam First I tried to bring my car to service to fix my speaker, they told POOR EXPERIENCE I HATE THIS DEALERSHIP.. Sales representative: Simon Lam First I tried to bring my car to service to fix my speaker, they told me I am out of warranty and asked me to go home unless I pay for it. I went home and checked, I purchased extended warranty and it should be covered with no cost. I spoke to the sales Simon and asked why service department did that to me. His response "too bad, it happens..." What kind of response is this? Ive been driving the car with no sound for over a month now. Is this reasonable?!?! Not to say their financial agent screwed up my ownership change last year. I already hate and feel very uncomfortable coming to this dealership. We spoke with our sales Simon two weeks ago and verbally agree to come back Today to return the car. now im here and SIMON said we did not confirm the date to return car and I should make an appointment. So the time we spent in the dealership was useless. Why didn't he tell us we have to make appointment two weeks ago? Why didn't he call us to confirm the date and time to do the return procedure? I do not work in this industry and I do not know the procedure. I then asked for manager to speak to but the rude Indian reception just gave me bad attitude and said no manager in the office...are you kidding me? This is totally ridiculous and I am still in the dealership waiting . VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED !!! I'm glad my lease is over and don't have to come back to this dealership and deal with Simon again ... Bought new, maintained here since 2004. 2004 Toyoto Camry SE, bought new from DVNLT. Five years ago we moved an hour drive away, and the first nearby Toyota dealer I went to for a simple ser 2004 Toyoto Camry SE, bought new from DVNLT. Five years ago we moved an hour drive away, and the first nearby Toyota dealer I went to for a simple service started listing all the things I MUST do right away - brakes, hydraulics, transmission, etc., etc.. Of course I only had done what I went there for - the service - but now I prefer to go back to DVNLT every time I need work done. I just do not trust a dealership that is not owned by Toyota. Be realistic, EVERYBODY upsells, Toyota is no different. The place I have my tyres changed twice a year tries every year to tell me I need new tyres - but you have to be intelligent about these things and say no when no is the right answer. It is your car, you make the decisions. I once tried to save money having after-market brake parts installed, within three months they were quite worn and the discs were warped. Back to DVNLT to have all the work done again, no problems since. But I learned an expensive lesson. I trust DVNLT, they are owned by Toyota and they make sure the parts are correct and that they are replaced if defective. And the work is done right every time - in 13 years with the same reliable car I have NO complaint about any parts installed or work they have done. More
Upsell on services On basic "maintenance service", they wanted to do a full brake service, when last visit they did a brake service. Said my brakes were rusty, and that On basic "maintenance service", they wanted to do a full brake service, when last visit they did a brake service. Said my brakes were rusty, and that the rusty rotor is damaging my brakes. They wanted $200 to do rotor machining which they did last time and rust came right back. Advisor didn't even know I did brake work with them the last visit before making the recommendation, and then even after looking it up, persisted on how my brakes need all this work. If I got some of the brakes fully replaced, pads and rotors last time, and some others machined because "it was rusty" I refuse to believe that 5k km later they need all this service again. Either the product is flawed or the advice is. I assume this behaviour is just the way they do business there. And fuel injector service was recommended because... it's better than not doing it. TLDR, cannot trust service for actual customer advice; just an exhaustive menu of what could possibly be done. Also, their service said my prius would get 5w20 oil, they put in 5w30, and the manual says to use 0w20. And they never explained any of that to me. More

Good service. But.... David Tafaro is very good in explaining the services of my Rust , fabric, paint protection warranty. If it is Lifetime warranty for the rust proofing David Tafaro is very good in explaining the services of my Rust , fabric, paint protection warranty. If it is Lifetime warranty for the rust proofing. I have to pay 45$ every year for my Rust proof warranty check ( does not include any fabric/ leather, paint checks). The fabric/leather protection is only done once on the leather/fabrics and goodbye/no more.. The paint protection is only for paint faded with bird droppings. it does not cover stone chip paints. The Rav4 paints is so thin that it chips off from the elements compared to Honda paints (much better quality paints compared to Toyota). When you buy Rust , fabric , paint protection, make sure you know the real warranties covered, because the product advisor and the service advisor do not jibes with their words. A 10 year rust proof protection does not need to be check annually, ( so how do we know if we need to have rust proof check ? Crazy) While a lifetime rust proof protection needs a yearly check up for $45.( this is a total reverse policy of the 10 year protection) After the rust proof check. I got the statement, but was not told whether what was done on my Rav4. I checked the underside, But never saw any new spray. So the $45 is for nothing.( better get a third party yearly rust proof for 60$). The Dealer's Car wash machine is so poor quality ,it dirty your car than cleaning .. The Aeroplan points I was told would be credited after 3-4 weeks. I am checking this. More
Awesome Deal, Easy Transaction, And Then - Nothing. We purchased a 2008 Rav4 from this dealership from their used car department. Great car, great price, delivered on time, cleaned inside and out. And We purchased a 2008 Rav4 from this dealership from their used car department. Great car, great price, delivered on time, cleaned inside and out. And then, the real adventure started. The car was delivered with one, not two, keys. The salesman indicated that one of their car jockey's misplaced it, but not to worry - if they can't find it, they'll get us another at no cost. I followed up week after week with the salesman, and he never responded to any phone calls, voicemails or even text messages. Then came an amazing day - the key was ready for pickup! Arrived at dealership, was directed to the parts department, they told me that 1) They had no key in stock and had no idea about what the salesman was talking about, 2) I would have to pay for the key, which was almost $400.00, 3) I would have to make an appointment to have it programmed, IE - come back when they have an opening and 4) I would be charged for the service on the vehicle. Finding this oddly unacceptable, I talked to a manager. He said they would straighten things out. Weeks went by, more voicemails and emails ignored. So I started contacting other managers at Don Valley North. Still no reply. I finally emailed the General Manager of the entire dealership, explained the situation to him, and received an email in response within 4 minutes. Eventually, arrangements were made to have the key delivered to another dealership closer to me to have the work done. However, when the key was delivered to Yorkdale Toyota, no one told the other dealership why a key was dropped off. More waiting, emails, phone calls, etc (lather, rinse, repeat). The day eventually came when all the planets properly aligned, politicians stopped telling lies, lawyers actually took money out of their own pockets, the hole in the ozone layer almost closed and I finally had a key in hand that fit my car. Bottom Line: If you need an extra key from Don Valley North Toyota, you will need to contact at least one salesman, two different parts departments, six managers from two different dealerships, one service advisor and two bored-sounding receptionists. You will need to write nine emails, send a minimum of 10 text messages and leave nine voicemails, and then, last but not least, have the work done somewhere else more convenient to you. Not to mention that the entire thing will take, from start to finish, about ten weeks - time that will be filled with anxiety, nail-biting and watching what is left of your hair turn an entirely different shade of gray. All that aside, we certainly do love the car. And, because of the effort required to finally get the key, we've had it bronzed, insured for a lot of money and finally had it stuffed and mounted over our fireplace mantel. More
