Overly strong sales pitch, but quality service. I am a younger insurance broker (DOB 1987), but I have worked in several offices over the course of my working life and I found the service at the use I am a younger insurance broker (DOB 1987), but I have worked in several offices over the course of my working life and I found the service at the used vehicle centre of Derrick Dodge to be professional in the upmost. I work and live about an hour and a half outside of Edmonton, and they fit me in to test and later purchase the vehicle in the evening (in one instance working past the shut down time of 9pm). My own experience might be biased in that I am a highly organized individual who had his appointments, insurance, registration, payment, and other minutia prepared, but why should anybody make excuses for such an important decision and possible purchase? I bought a used 2009 Jeep Patriot. Listed price on the internet was 13999, but it ended up costing me 17728 after taxes, fees, and a 36 month Superior Wrap S.A.L. warranty. Considering how the warranty amounts to an extra 3000 or so It was a bit of a shock, but I know I will get that back as I will be properly servicing the vehicle at a nearby dealership. The guys at the dealership fought hard for the sale because I happen to be a picky jerk who reads the fine print. I took my time, had a knowledgeable friend test drive the vehicle and ask questions about the mechanical side of things, and then got the sales guys to wave a few fees because I paid up front and bargained on the price with the offer that I would purchase extended warranty provided they gave me a break on the final price. They also told me that they were not doing this because I paid up front, but I believe it made my bargaining position a bit more favourable. The pressure they put on clients to buy their wares is pretty high, but a sensible customer who looks into this rationally might enjoy a pleasant experience. I work in a similar industry, where irritable people will scream at you for increases in insurance premiums, and then come crying to you when they crash their truck into someone and have to get a "Free" new vehicle. If you want to objectively value the service you are receiving, take a good hard look at the information you are "broadcasting" as a consumer. Transactions are two way streets, and I found their service excellent. More

I emailed numerous dealers in Alberta n their best out the door price. Their first offer was markedly better than any other dealer could offer. I Then wasted money on carcostcanada and their price was actually much higher. I contacted Kirsten and made a $500 deposit by credit card to secure the deal. I requested a trailer hitch to be added and a 4 bike rack. I took the red arrow up from Calgary and the car was waiting. I had a brief meeting with Aaron with soft selling extended warranty which I declined. There was no hard selling. Payment was accepted by bank draft. They spent quite a bit of time reviewing all of the features of the car and how to use them. They attached the plates and filled the gas tank and off I went. Overall I would describe the process as open, transparent and professional. The price was also a good $2k+ cheaper than a Calgary dealer could offer me. At this point I would use them again and would not hesitate to recommend them. Lester More
SAL Protection Insurance. Went to Derrick Dodge last May 1, 2014 to purchased a Pre-owned 2013 Subaru Sti with 39,000 kms on it. Deal done, so the sales agent brought us to B Went to Derrick Dodge last May 1, 2014 to purchased a Pre-owned 2013 Subaru Sti with 39,000 kms on it. Deal done, so the sales agent brought us to Barry the Finance officer. He offered me a SAL protection insurance at a cost of $2000 for 5 years or 100,000 kms whichever comes first. So if I decide to buy this SAL, the expiry date of 5 years would be May 1,2019 and 139,000 kms. I don't want to buy but Barry was forcing us, so because I thought he is true to his words I decided to had it. When I review the policy at home, it was a total misleading information in my policy which would made my policy invalid. First wrong information is, He put it as a new car instead of pre -owned and after sale. Second, the date of expiration he put is Sept 2017 instead of May 1, 2019. Third, is instead of 139,000 kms. because it has already 39,000 kms on it he only put 100,000 kms. Went back to him and ask to cancel this insurance and He said it can't be stop and can't change my bi-weekly payments anymore. He tried to please me, make a new copy of the policy and change the date of the expiration to 2019 but not on May 1, 2019 He make it Sept 24, 2019, which will make the whole policy invalid, because it contradicts the date of purchase and it should be Pre-owned and after sale vehicle. The next day May 2, drive the car around and every time I applied a brake a very disturbing sounds come out. I called my sales agent about the scraping noise, first she told me to bring the car to Subaru Dealer because she said it has still warranty on that car. I told her that it should be fix by Derrick dodge. She said you can bring it back but never mentioned who will shoulder the expenses. I feel I was being robbed. More
Poor customer service My brother and I had bought a truck through our company. My brother had been the one dealing on the truck and got everything in order. I then had a d My brother and I had bought a truck through our company. My brother had been the one dealing on the truck and got everything in order. I then had a day off work, and thought I would make the trip up to Edmonton to pick up the truck. I called ahead and explained my situation, that I was not the one dealing on the truck but would be the one coming to pick it up. I spoke to the sales manager, who passed me through to finance to see if it would be sufficient. She said all I would need to do is bring a void cheque and we could make it work. I notified them I would be passing through the city in 4 hours and she assured me she would have everything ready. I hop in with a friend that was going to Edmonton for the weekend and got a ride to the dealership, walk through the doors, identify myself, and got a deer in the headlights look, as if I was some sort of creature from another planet whom they knew nothing about. Explained the situation to the same girl i spoke with on the phone and she still assured me that I could take the truck, the only stipulation is that I would have to bring the paper work home to my brother, as his name was on all of the paper. I then got approached by a salesman who told me, "dealerships don't like surprises , you really should have planned ahead." I felt like telling the dope that I did plan ahead, and explained to the finance lady I was not the one who dealt on the truck, but would be the one coming to pick it up . It was your guys' incompetence that lead to this " surprise", not mine . She then tells me I need to take the truck for a test drive, and she will handle the paper work . No body gives me any keys to take the truck for a drive . I get approached by the salesman again and he said he was taking the truck to get detailed. Well the truck didn't move from the time I got to the dealership to the time I left. After sitting on the lobby for 2 hours, the finance lady gets the notion to tell me that there are too many "legalities" for me to take the truck, and that the truck was not even ready to be picked up , therefore my brother would have to pick it up at a later date . So there i stood, in a dealership , with no way of getting home, which is a 3 hour drive . Stunned, I called my friend who had originally drove me to Edmonton and he wasted the remainder of his day driving me back home. Not only did I waste an entire day accomplishing absolutely nothing, even though I was assured everything would work out, but my friend lost his entire weekend due to the dealerships lack of listening skills. Not even a "sorry for the inconvenience." Just a come back another day and Hopfully our heads are out of our xxxxx. I called both the finance manager as well as the sales manager at 3pm to see if I could get the paper work switched to my name (as I am half owner of the company). Neither of them called back. As i mentioned before, all I needed to bring was "a void cheque" and when I arrived to the dealership, all of a sudden they needed $5000 cheque. I'm not saying they should have just handed me the keys and let me take the truck, even though my name was not on any paper work,. What bothered me is that I called ahead, told them who I was, what I had planned on doing, and they were fine with it. Also that i wasted and entire day, my friends entire day, and a tank of fuel on something that could have all been avoided, had the dealership had any idea of what they were talking about. More
Kept our deposit, illegally AMVIC is investigating Derreck Dodge as they are not willing to return our $500 deposit. My wife and I were interested in a vehicle, but are 5 hours AMVIC is investigating Derreck Dodge as they are not willing to return our $500 deposit. My wife and I were interested in a vehicle, but are 5 hours out of town. The dealership told us they would hold the vehicle for us to drive down to see if we sent $500 on mastercard. We were told if we didnt like the car, they would return the money. Well, as you can imagine, they refuse to return the money, AND, refuse to even return our phone calls. Amvic told us as there are no documents signed to commit the consumer to a contract, the dealer must return the deposit in full. All fine and dandy, but Derrick Dodge is puposefuly awaiting for AMVIC to make them give it back. Childish. Dean Cox Grande Prairie, AB More
I bought a 2013 jeep compass, and must say, at first they were very helpful. My clutch went on my car before buying the jeep. They helped me with a loaner. I payed for my jeep with Cash, which you would thin were very helpful. My clutch went on my car before buying the jeep. They helped me with a loaner. I payed for my jeep with Cash, which you would think they would at least put a tank of gas in it when picking it up would be courteous, but I had to mention that it was almost empty. sigh.... So Part of the agreement of the trade in of the car with no clutch was that I would put the original tires back on (with rims) and take the winter tires off (with rims). I made an appointment on the date of purchase for a week later at 9 am. So when I arrived there ( week later). To find out I had to argue with the service people to the point of asking for a manager ( which took 30 min for a manager) to get them to do the work, which I was paying for to begin with... (Now its 10:10 am) they said they would call me when they finish, as for this service was being done on saturday , they close at 3:00pm. so I get a phone call @ 2:50. stating they are ready to be picked up. So I have 10 mins to get there, which unless I live beside the dealership I would make it. So I now have to make another appointment for Monday and leave work to pick them up. In the end I could have exchanged the tire myself fast and a lot less costly. wages and the 40$ to swop the tire. Such a simple task had to be such a pain in the neck. Ps. I also never got an owners manual. Not even sure if I want to tackle that task next!!!!!! I was also told I could go online to there website to rate there work. I have not come across a method yet!!!!!! More
The Derrick Dodge salespeople are pushing you to the finish line without answering any basic questions. They have little knowledge about the vehicles, they just want toget you into their office to sign finish line without answering any basic questions. They have little knowledge about the vehicles, they just want toget you into their office to sign the deal. If you like high pressure sales, this is the place for you! If you, like me, are not necessarily signing the dotted line today and need just a day or two to decide I'd suggest you go elsewhere. Yesterday was the second time I've tried to buy a brand new Fiat from them, but they still couldn't close the deal respectfully. First time I opted to go to another dealer a"Crosstown" and got what I expected with NO GAMES. I'm now looking to trade in my 500C for a 500L and I guess I'll have to do the same. More

First problem: I Had gotten a flat tire in the summer First problem: I Had gotten a flat tire in the summer and I had to replace it so i obliviously grabbed the wheel wrench from the back and it wasn't First problem: I Had gotten a flat tire in the summer and I had to replace it so i obliviously grabbed the wheel wrench from the back and it wasn't the correct size of the bolts luckily I had a socket wrench and the right sizes laying in my trunk also so I went in and complained about it and asked for a wheel wrench that was the right size, he said it wasn't the wrench it was the bolts and I needed to replace them and it would cost over 400 for all of them why would I do that when I could buy a wrench that fits for less then 50? Second problem: My tranny went in my car on the way home from the city so I took it to a local garage to get the codes read I already knew the problem and they local dealership quoted me 2500 for the fix but they couldn't get me in until the following friday (this was on a sunday) I'm a student who works 8 hours a day and takes night classes for 5 hours so I don't have much time on my hands and I always need a car to get to where I'm going due to the fact I live out in the country so I called a few other places up and the soonest I could get booked was for a tuesday which was for derrick dodge so I took my car in knowing it was going to be a little more costly, on the monday they called me up saying that it was going to be over 4000 bones for the repair and the car wouldn't be ready until friday at this point I'm very unimpressed with them so friday rolls around and I find out they're charing me for a tune up and wheel alignment which i'm 100% sure I do not need because the plugs were changed recently and so was the oil so I got the tune up canceled but they said the wheel alignment was mandatory which it really wasn't they were just docking me for cash and they tell me it would be ready for next tuesday it's now monday before the tuesday it was suppose to be done and they called me today saying it would be ready this friday it's been two weeks without a car which is absolute xxxx for me i put on about 600 kms in a week.... The car in question is a 2010 dodge charger and I have no idea when or how much it's going to cost to get back all I know is i'm getting boned HIGHLY RECOMMEND AVOIDING THIS PLACE LIKE A DISEASE. More
