Not a good financial decision They advertise 0 down, with 6% interest rate OAC, however I am curious as to who actually does get a interest rate of 6 %. My husband and I applied to They advertise 0 down, with 6% interest rate OAC, however I am curious as to who actually does get a interest rate of 6 %. My husband and I applied to purchase a vehicle from checkered flag auto, the process was extremely slow, it took over a week to hear any news from them, we had to supply banking information and pay slips ( similar to what we submitted for a mortgage). Initially we called them because we were interested in a dodge Durango that we saw online, so we called thinking that we were applying for that specific vehicle, however it appears that we were only applying for approval for financing, once approved ( after over a week) we were told that the particular vehicle we thought we were applying for, had been sold, I enquired why the Durango was still listed online, I was told, that there website provider has a 72 hr delay, however the same Durango was still listed on their website as of last night when I checked ( one May assume particular vehicles which are posted May be there as bait, but unknown if they actually exist). After getting approval we were told to pick out a vehicle, which we did, the price of the vehicle was 17 995$, they tag on a large down payment, over 60 months. Now here is where it gets interesting, I am not a financial professional but this is a tad bit confusing, the day we we're suppose to sign the contract, we were told our payments were 210 bi weekly, or 410 per month, my rough calculation estimation we would pay 25 200$ Over the term for the vehicle which was a 2010, with over 125 000 Km. I'm am going to assume that doesn't include taxes. We were given a verbal estimate of a 8--11% interest rate ( on the day we we're suppose to sign contract), which could possibly mean that the interest rate may change or increase at some point during the term of the contract. We went to the location off of McLeod and 50 the avenue, the building itself has a sign for "financing company" of some sort and a small door on the side entrance marked for auto sales. ? So do they finance themselves. One thing to remember that credit ratings really do not mean anything, equivalent does not keep track of anything that you have successfully paid off, or any credit limits that have been raised or acquired, it only tracks any late payments or negative aspects. It basically measures how well a person stays in debt. Second, remember finance companies and banks etc. all create loans basically out of nothing, then charge people obscene interests rates for profit. Always do your research, ask a lot of questions and know what your getting into in the long run. According to checkered flag auto Facebook page, it seems that some people are choosing to finance vehicles with them, but this is not a good choice for my husband and I , therefore we decided not to complete any deal with this business.
