Friendly people, good customer service, no problems there. Basic services are within a reasonable price, it's when you get to needing the factory recommended service #2 and up that the price shoots there. Basic services are within a reasonable price, it's when you get to needing the factory recommended service #2 and up that the price shoots way up for what seems to be only a few added tasks. Typically, you'll 'inspect' more things, whatever that means. I'm not sure it adds that much more labour time but I have to pay at least twice as much. At my 50k service, the only added work other than 'inspecting stuff' was servicing my brakes. The price I paid: 10x the usual oil change fee!!! 10k later, as part of another oil change, I'm told my brakes should be serviced. Hmmm, didn't you JUST do that? And who sets the standards for what passes the 'inspection'? And don't get me started on the 'coupons'. "Look a free cooler with your oil and tire change!" Never mind that if you buy the services separately, it'll cost you $20 LESS than if you use the coupon! That cooler is not FREE, it's $20!!! More

I've been buying Elantras and servicing them at Guelph Hyundai for nearly 10 years. I like to take my car to the people who know it best for scheduled maintenance -- not to mention for something ma Guelph Hyundai for nearly 10 years. I like to take my car to the people who know it best for scheduled maintenance -- not to mention for something major -- so it's essential for me to have a local dealer with a reliable service dept. While I've been quite satisfied in the past, and thus do not want to overblow this complaint, just since last fall I've noticed the service dept. getting aggressive in trying to sell extra-to-factory-scheduled maintenance. We're talking procedures of dubious value that in 35 yrs of owning cars I've never had done before to any car, some I had never heard of: cleaning corrosion from hubs, cleaning throttle body, cleaning corrosion from battery terminals, power flush of fuel injectors. Because I had built up trust for the service staff, I went along with this a couple times, but now it seems to be a pattern. Because this style represents a sudden change -- at least in my experience -- I wonder whether it reflects a new management policy which the service staff simply have to carry out. There is a risk, of course, of alienating customers who don't like the feeling of being upsold, don't like having to figure out on the spot whether something is truly needed or a costly "frill",and/or don't have the budget to spend $200 when they thought they were coming for a simple oil change. Now that I see the pattern, I will probably continue coming while resisting the upselling. If I get tired of that, I'll have to go elsewhere. Maybe I'm naive and everybody does this now. Anyway, they get credit for bravery in soliciting posted reviews. More
