Car-On Auto Sales responded

Dear Alex, I would like to thank you for your feedback. While we don’t enjoy hearing of dissatisfied customers, comments like yours do help us to improve our processes to ensure that all future clients receive the type of experience they deserve and we strive for. Every customer is important to us here at Car-On Auto Sales including yourself. I am however forced to bring a few corrections to your recollection of the events. On July 16th you purchased from us a 2010 Hyundai Genesis 2.0T with the help of Sean Ingham. Part of every sale at Car-On includes a “work to be done” sheet which spells out what we agree to do as part of the sale. It spells out the included repairs and both parties sign off on it. We have been doing that for over 10 years and it eliminates confusion as to what customers will be receiving as part of their purchase. It further ensures that everything we agree to do at the time of sale gets done. On the “work to be done” sheet in your file, 2 items were noted. Not 4 as you pointed out. Both your mother and yourself were there when we wrote up this document. Those items were “ check brakes for vibration” and “Ontario Safety Inspection”. I will gladly share this sheet with you along with your mother’s initials next to each item we agreed to should you wish to see it. On preparation of your vehicle new brakes, pads and rotors were installed on all 4 wheels, 4 new tires were installed, a new battery was installed and the Ontario safety inspection was done as agreed on the “work to be done sheet”. Your vehicle was delivered to you on Saturday July 25th ( 9 days after you and your mother signed the documents). With regards to the delay in delivery, I totally understand your frustration. We also don’t like delays as it disappoints customers, slows down our delivery process and, equally as important, we don’t get paid unless the car is delivered. So, I am sure you can appreciate that it is in our best interest to make all these steps happen as quickly as possible. Unfortunately sometimes we are at the mercy of the manufacturer as to parts availability. The part availability for some of your parts was 7 – 10 business days from Hyundai. As soon as we received the parts from Hyundai, the vehicle was put immediately back in the queue for the work to be completed. The safety inspection was done, the vehicle registered to your name and you were contacted. During the final inspection, our delivery coordinator noted that the key fob was not working (driver’s door would not lock/unlock with the remote). With much pressure from you, as this was a weekend and you were going to Montreal (if you recall) , you asked that we give you the car for the weekend and you would return to get the remote fixed early on Monday…which we agreed to do. So only 1 problem was noted at time of sale (brake vibration) and it was dealt with professionally which included new brakes, new tires and an alignment. As agreed, you came back with your Genesis on the Monday to complete the remote repair and you also asked us to look at 5 other issues: 1. Rattle when going over bumps 2. Right Rear Taillight condensation 3. Passenger headliner is damp ( customer thinks it’s the passenger triangle window) 4. Check ABS, Traction control light 5. Rumble under load Key fob issue: What we initially thought was a fob battery problem, after diagnostics, turned out to be a defective door latch in the left front door. Hyundai did not have the latch in stock and it needed to be ordered. Again we were at the mercy of Hyundai to get the part and had to reschedule you for yet another visit. Rattle when going over bumps: The Catalytic protective heat shield was loose under the car. This was re-secured immediately. Right Rear Taillight condensation. The lens was removed, dried and re-sealed. Passenger headliner is damp (customer thinks it’s the passenger triangle window): We had 2 technicians extensively spray everywhere around the triangle window and roof line, trunk and no water seepage was found. We were unable to reproduce your concern. Check ABS, Traction control light: Right front speed sensor was giving intermittent warning because it didn’t get good readings (intermittent fault). As a precautionary measure, both front wheel speed sensors were replaced. I would also like to address your comment about us “clearing the light as opposed to fixing the problem”. If you care to examine your vehicle you will notice that both front speed sensors are new. Furthermore, any mechanic will confirm that if you clear an ABS light without fixing the cause of the problem, the light will come back within 3 cycles. A cycle is defined as a) start vehicle, b) bring the engine to normal running temperature and c) turn off vehicle . So had we, as you claim, cleared the light without repairing the problem, your dash would have “lit up “ within 3 days after you left our dealership. So, unfortunately no substance to your claim that the light was just cleared …although a faulty wheel bearing 2.5 months later could also generate an ABS / Traction Control warning light Rumble under load: This problem was much more than we had bargained for but nonetheless it was repaired at no cost to you. After much research, we found out that the rear differentials/driveshafts on Genesis are a common problem, usually handled under the Hyundai warranty but, because of the fact that your car was completely out of warranty, we ended up having to replace the driveshaft. Yes, we admit that it took longer than we would have liked but because it is not a common part, nobody keeps spare driveshafts on a shelf. Again it needed to be ordered. We realized the inconvenience and we did lend you a vehicle while this was happening. A 2012 Ford Focus if you recall. When you picked up your vehicle that day, all issues had been addressed with the exception of the door latch which was on order. On August 12th (not several weeks later) the door latch was received from Hyundai, you were contacted and the new latch was installed in your door. Yes, we agree this did take a few hours as the door needs to be disassembled to gain access to the latch. That repair was done, and when you left, the FOB was working and this was the last time we heard from you until now. It is very obvious that you are upset about the events and we agree that it wasn’t pleasant or as easy as either one of us would have liked. I totally understand your frustration. Unfortunately when dealing with vehicle repairs, sometimes xxxx-ups will happen. They are unfortunate, they are very aggravating but they do happen. If cars were predictable and didn’t break down, repair shops for new car franchises wouldn’t be the size they are nowadays. Mr Galipeau, again please accept our apologies for the chain of events that occurred and rest assured that your review has not fallen on deaf ears. Your feedback is appreciated.
