We purchased a 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid from Race Toyota. We have been Toyota people for years. Our friends gave us a card from Race Toyota that they highly recommended. We called the dealership and spoke with Brian Moulder, who we found out later was the owners. He spent a long time with us working out various scenarios for us, all the time not knowing if we were shopping or purchasing. We felt completely comfortable with him and felt that he was not pushing us into anything. We called numerous times and he took the time to talk to us in his busy schedule. We have never experienced a sales person who worked as much as he did, finding the best fit for us. The whole team at Race Toyota went out of their way during the purchase and after. Sales staffs lack of product knowledge cost me thousands . I traded in the 4th Tacoma that I had bought from that dealer on a 2024 model . When discussing the trade in I asked if my electric trailer brake controller would work on the 2024 TRD sport that I was buying . The salesman assured me that it would . The sales manager backed up the salesmans claim that my aftermarket brake controller could be easily installed on my new purchase . After handing over my 2020 Tacoma and a large check I soon discovered that it was not going to be possible . I had made business commitments that I needed a truck with a brake controller for and after three weeks of being told that I would be looked after was left in a situation where I had to trade my 2024 Tacoma with 2000 kms on for a 2023 model with 20,000 km on from another dealer . The other dealer told me up front that it was not possible to use an after market brake controller on a base level 2024 TRD sport . If the salesman at sunrise was up front with me about this I might have spent more, instead of being stuck spending 55k on a truck that would not do what I was told it would do . I eventually got tired of being told that they were going ro look after me , just to get me off the phone . I would never trust this dealership again

The sales team was good, explained everything clearly to me, and found proper vehicle that fit my needs. But, the finance was not nice. Instead of certified check, they required wire transfer, the lady insisted I pay the wire transfer fee, and would get me reimbursed "in one week". Now, it's 2 months since then, and she never replied my e-mails! Update: after this review, I got contacted immediately, and got my reimbursement at the same day.

These guys are bait and switch experts. Four times this happened to me. Each time the sales guy said he had been off for a few days and didn’t realize the car I wanted was sold. EVEN AFTER I PROVIDED CREDIT CARD DEPOSIT AND PERSONAL INFO. each time they pushed me to order with delivery weeks or months away!

Excellent dealership! I have recently purchased a new car from Russelle Toyota and the entire process was professional, easy and stress free. Previously I have also used the Service Department, Parts Department and Body Shop and always had a great experience. Everyone is friendly and honest. Not sure about the other negative reviews but my experience has always been excellent.

I ordered a 2024 Venza hybrid and waited for almost 10 months. When the car arrived, they refused to give me the car. I was told that the order was put in with an assumption that I would return my leased car to the dealer. It was a very frustrating experience. This was the fourth car that I leased from the same dealer. Just make sure you don’t assume that once your orderin, the car will be yours.

Failure to properly repair fault - Tom

In the fall I was on vacation near Timmins when my Toyota Sienna failed. It was towed to James Toyota for repairs and they were advised as to what the trouble was and what the repair was needed . The Alternator was intermittently failing and caused the battery to fail. On picking up the vehicle they only replaced the battery and claimed no fault was evident on the alternator. On returning to my city the next morning I had the vehicle fail to start and had it towed to Toyota dealer which identified the alternator as defective and replaced same under warranty. On contacting James Toyota and requesting refund of the labour portion of the bill as the repair was NOT completed I was refused.

Add extra cost in final contract. Was looking for a truck and visited this dealer. Everything was great, the sales person and manager were super friendly. We talked about model and prices. Until it came to the last step on the final contract. They added couple thousands on our agreed price in the final agreement. We let them know we are not gonna take that price for sure. And all the smiles are gone. Everyone became extremely rude. We just left. It's a waste of 4 hours.

I made an appointment to see James for 3:00. I showed up 10 mins early and waited around until 3:30. That should have been my first red flag. We had discussed the vehicles I wanted to try and in what order I wanted to try them so I could have a good idea when comparing similar vehicles and he said everything would be all lined up ready to go. When he finally showed up, he didn't have anything ready that he said he would have prepared. He wasted a lot of my time just finding the vehicles I wanted after asking what I was looking for again. I went out for some test drives which were OK. I asked him a couple questions in which he didn't have answers and he said he'd get back to me via email with the answers. He never answered them even though I reminded him several times. I asked him to give me a quote on the vehicle and he said he'd email them to me. He didn't do that but rather asked me how I'm going to pay and then asked again about what I was looking for. I advised him that I would consider the quote with the vehicle and take the one that worked best for me. Five days later I get an email saying that the cost is MSRP and the vehicles are hot and not discounted along with several probing questions in other emails trying to get information to help him make more profit. I feel this could have been told to me on day one. I understand that they are there to make a profit but I wasted five days. I would not buy anything from James.

Even when I needed to modify the vehicles for the special need clients I have, Pat has gotten his team to do this adaptions at either cost or free to help us in keeping within our budget. Made a deal on a car, sales person never updated me was sent an e mail that car was in after 10 months. Was called by salesman the next day to learn that the price had gone up by 1685.00$ because I was getting a 2023 instead of a 2022. Went in to speak to manager with my purchase agreement and told him I would pay the agreed on price he flatly refused. So no car, if I had paid the extra I would have had major buyers remorse. Called OMVIC about my experience and they said although I was treated badly, no law was broken. Thanks for reading my story and beware! A deal is no longer a deal.

The Service Advisor named Chuck greeted me as soon as I came in, checked me in to my appointment, carefully explained everything that would be done, gave me an estimate of the amount of time it would take and offered me a free car wash. After the work was done in the time I was told it would be, Chuck explained everything that was done and everything they discovered with courtesy and details and answered all of my questions with patience and kindness. It was a wonderful experience from beginning to end!
