Donna & Jack, We would like to add some detail to the points you made in your review.
According to our showroom traffic records, the discussion centring around the GPS/cellular functions took place between you and our Sales Manager (lasting approx. 30-40 min.) prior to even discussing the pricing on the vehicle. We always adhere to this process to ensure we have selected the correct vehicle. Post-delivery, we also spent an additional 60 min troubleshooting your concerns about the system with you. As we discovered together, there was an iOS update to your phone which caused a short-term issue with one aspect of the Scout GPS navigation feature. This was when you asked for a buy-back option for your car, which our General Manager took seriously, and committed to facilitating a buy-back to the best of our abilities. At this point the New Car Sales Manager met with you in person and explained that they would be willing to buy-back your Camry for exactly the same amount of money that you paid originally (less freight), to put towards a completely different model of Toyota, which was about $6,000 more than your original purchase. He also offered to waive the standard administration fee of $349, and to give you a 48mo/100,000km Platinum Toyota ECP warranty at no cost to you. Please note the ECP warranty on your first Camry is non-refundable for us. In summary, we have offered to buy-back your Camry for what you paid for it (less freight), we have waived all administration fees, provided a free Toyota ECP warranty for your next Toyota, and offered to take-in a now-used Camry with 6,000km which we would be forced to sell at a loss. We are firm on the fact that we have made every effort to satisfy every request you made, and it’s unfortunate that you don’t see the value in what we have offered. Response from Jack I have no problem with you adding more details to defend your position but these details should be truthful. At no time prior to delivery did anyone mention the Scout GPS system.I don't know where you got your information but I can assure you that the first time Corey mentioned that the GPS would be using our cell phone data was on the day we were picking up the car. As I've said before I was shocked and questioned why anyone would think this was a good idea and that if I had known about this earlier, I would not have bought this car. That is when Corey explained that one of the managers, Alex, had used the system on a trip to Toronto and the data usage was minimal. Alex even joined us outside to corroborate this story. Post-delivery, after a number of calls and texts, Donna and I attended at the dealership because the GPS would not connect. I had even called Toyota Canada the previous week to complain and asked if it was a common problem. I was told it was not common and that they would contact the manager, Alex at the dealership and have things rectified. The day we went to the dealership we were told this a single problem. Alex went out to car with my wife and tried to connect the GPS. It did not work so he then suggested that he try his phone. That did not work either so they then attempted to connect the GPS in another Camry XSE. Neither phone would allow connection. ||At that time I suspected that the problem was much bigger than anyone was admitting. A couple of days later, my wife found an article on the internet talking about the GPS system in some Toyota cars was not working and they were cooperating with the software vendor to fix the problem. The problem affected 2018 Camry sedan and 2018 Sienna mini-vans. It was obvious that Toyota and it's dealers were aware of the problem but were stonewalling the inquiries. That is when I called the sales manager, John Guigue and asked to meet with the general manager. When we met, you appeared very concerned and committed to rectifying the situation. That is when we discussed a buy back if I would be interested in purchasing a vehicle with an embedded GPS. A couple of days later we met with sales manager John Guigue and I must admit that I was surprised that you were not at this meeting. You mention in your reply that the model of Toyota we had selected was about $6,000.00 more than my original purchase. Why did John tell us during that meeting that we would have to pay over $12,000.00 to purchase this other car. I told him that was way too much and after a short discussion about the 48mo/100,000km Platinum Toyota EPC warranty that I had purchased for the initial car, I told John I expected the difference to be closer to $5,000. He then went on his computer and reported that the very best he could do would be $8,737.00 . I then offered $6,000.00 and that was refused. The next morning, after having done some due diligence on the offer, I decided to call John but it turned out it was his day off. I then was informed by the dealership that you were working that day, so I left you a message asking to call me back. You never returned my call. The following day, I spoke with John Guigue and told him that after a closer look at the numbers, I felt that I could up my offer to $7,500.00 and this would be fair for all involved. John refused, saying he had to have $8,737.00. I still feel I was misled and the buy back we were offered, punished us for believing the salespeople and managers. I really believe that Tony Graham Toyota should get Toyota Canada to share this responsibility. The GPS has never worked and still doesn't and no word from either Tony Graham or Toyota Canada. If you feel there is a chance to rectify this situation, feel free to call me. Jack

Here is an incident that happened with one of the managers at Tony Graham Toyota. On Sat. Feb. 24 at approx. 10am, my wife received a call on her cellphone. The call was from Alex who sounded very agitated and spoke very loudly. He told my wife that the response I had given was lies and since he was mentioned by name, he had contacted his lawyer. My wife finally interrupted his ramblings to advise that this was not a good time to discuss this matter as she was in Montreal by her dying father's bedside. Showing great empathy, Alex replied that he would report that she had refused to speak with him. My wife asked him to call me since I was the author of the article. He hung up. After my wife called me to report this incident, I went to the dealership to talk with Alex. As I entered the dealership, there were several people near the entrance including one of the financial managers and two greeters. Alex was standing about ten feet back looking at his cellphone. One of the greeters asked me if they could help and replied that I simply wanted to speak with Alex who was standing right there. Alex approached me and in a very loud voice and agitated said he had nothing to say to me. I asked him if we could sit somewhere and discuss this matter in a civil manner. He again repeated in a very loud voice that he had nothing to say to me. I then said "fine I'll just report that you refused to talk to me". He was very agitated and loud then I advised him that if he called my wife again and tried to intimidate her, that would become a legal problem. He then very loudly said I have nothing to say to you and get out of my face. He then took off at a very fast pace and walked across the showroom into another manager's office. I asked the financial manager who was still standing there if the general manager was working today and she advised that Ben did not work weekends but she could leave him a message to call me on Monday. I thanked her and left. I called Ben George on Monday morning and met with him at 3pm that afternoon. After relating to him what happened on |Saturday, Ben told me that he had already talked with Alex and his story of the events was almost exactly what I had just told him. Ben apologized and said he would deal with Alex. I told him it wasn't up to him to apologize but he had better deal with Alex because in all my years I had never felt so disrespected by anyone in the customer service industry. This was embarrassing and I am sure that some of the customers in the showroom heard his ranting. We then briefly discussed what had been going on but there was no further attempt to resolve the situation. Four months of nonsense and Toyota still has no solution and no one responds to my calls. Also sad to say that my wife's Dad passed away six days after the incident with Alex. This is not the kind of dealership that I want to associate with.
