This is not normal wear and tear, stone chips, or neglect—it’s a paint defect that was significant enough for Toyota to issue a recall/warranty extension program. Unfortunately, I discovered the issue a few months after the coverage window expired. Despite the fact that this is clearly the same manufacturing defect Toyota acknowledged, Tony Graham Toyota has refused to assist with the repair or offer any goodwill support. I understand that programs have deadlines, but when paint is actively separating from the vehicle in large sections, common sense should matter. Loyal customers should not be left with a car that looks like this because they happened to miss an arbitrary date by a few months. I approached the dealership respectfully and simply asked for a reasonable solution. Instead, I was told there was nothing they would do. The most disappointing part is not the defective paint—manufacturing issues happen. It’s the lack of customer support when a known defect is staring everyone in the face. If you’re considering purchasing from Tony Graham Toyota, be aware that once a warranty or recall-related program expires, even by a short period, you may be left entirely on your own, regardless of how obvious the defect may be.
