I traveled to Edmonton and negotiated the deal with Salesman Greg Molder. The purchase went fine and I returned to BC. After returning to BC and having the vehicle inspected by a the BC Inspection facility they found the front brakes needed to be replaced. Despite this dealer not being obligated to honour a BC inspection, I send the cost of repairs to the manager "Mick". Who promptly sent me a cheque to cover the cost. Cheers to them. More
Simple as a tire... or ridiculous cost of maintinence Well... I had taken years looking at subaru, finally when my last car dies jumped at the excuse to get a sexy subaru... the sales person was nice friendly helpful easy to deal with etc. But when I had a blowout on the highway a month later due to a bad tire they became xxxx. Would not replace the tire, finally agreed to honor warranty, but wouldn't put tire on as I had slight wear on the rest of the tires. Wouldn't replace the set, basically saying they could give me a new tire that didn't match the rest but had to buy 4 new either way... xxx. Faulty tire blows and they won't do ANYTHING. Terrible to deal with arrogant and rude. So I told them to give me a replacement tire that matched and went to buy a new set at trail tire since it was much cheaper for better rated tires. They put the tire in a bag and insisted on carrying it to my car for me... turns out they gave me the wrong one... seriously incompetent scam of a company. Final note. The cost for service here is ridiculous. The first time they called with a service reminder I asked the cost and they estimated around 600$ for a car which has a payment of 420 a month, after 1 month. My certified garage did the same work for 180. Terrible fraudulant company. Garbage. Despite my love for subaru since I was a kid I will never be buying one again, sadly not worth the risk of this dealership representing company wide... now to spend another 750 bucks on tires despite warranty and faulty tire less than 500 km old. Then I can go home ansd stare at the 3 original and 1 new non matching incorrect tire I can't do anything with More
Not willing to negotiate Looking for a good used vehicle Initially sales staff were helpful. When making an offer sales person was to talk to manager. He did not call back. Looking for a good used vehicle Initially sales staff were helpful. When making an offer sales person was to talk to manager. He did not call back. When following up brushed off the offer not moving on the price for a cash sale. It is amazing that in our current economy when you have a chance to make a cash sale with no financing a dealership would not try to negotiate back with a more reasonable cost. Documentation fees are pure profit for dealers. They are making money from sales already. There should be more room to negotiate lease backs as they are pricing vehicles to what the leased vehicle would need to be purchased at for the original owner of the lease. When a used car is not 15% less than a new vehicle price and people are not willing to do a little better job of negotiating they will not get my business. Going to Calgary where people are at least willing to discuss pricing. More
Not very easy to negotiate with This was my first time purchasing a new vehicle from a dealership and only my second car ever. I found that they were really really reluctant to throw This was my first time purchasing a new vehicle from a dealership and only my second car ever. I found that they were really really reluctant to throw in anything when negotiating. My brother bought a vehicle through GM and they threw in the undercoating, 12" 3m paint protection and some other stuff. I bought this car with cash and they'd only throw in the rubber mats and the cargo liner. Their prices for the undercoat etc are insanely high and they weren't willing to negotiate on that at all. Also, had a really hard time getting ahold of anyone to set up appointment to go in and get my car, and apparently they have no staff that can help me get my car tonight (3 days after purchase). Kind of made me feel like since they know they have my business they don't car anymore. Sales guy was super friendly and nice but I feel like he used my lack of negotiating experience against me. The Worst Sales Experience EVER! Both my spouse and I love Subaru products. We both own one. But after the experience provided by this dealership it makes me ask why. Why would I stay Both my spouse and I love Subaru products. We both own one. But after the experience provided by this dealership it makes me ask why. Why would I stay with a product sold by terrible people and who will clearly not assist you in the future life of the vehicle. We attended the dealership on a weekend as we wished to purchase a new Outback. After some time we were reluctantly greeted by Brad Laing. We explained our interest and discussed both the Outback and the Forester as options. Basic information was provided and after some time test drives were offered. We were allowed to complete the drives on our own. This was helpful for us. But I think it was done so we wouldn't take too much of Brad's time. This was clearly evident on our next visit. We discussed numbers and advised we would review our options and follow up. Two days later we returned. It appeared to be a slow weekday evening. I did not see any other customers around(This should have been a HUGE CLUE!! Go Elsewhere! Like everyone else). It seemed we were interrupting Brad from... oh wait this is his job. We advised we were focused on an Outback and wished to drive it again. This was arranged. Brad's attitude and body language throughout this whole process indicated that we were wasting his time. As we began to discuss options with Brad my spouse had to sign a document for him. The form was shuffled across the table. The next part was particularly troubling... He tossed a pen at her allowing it to bounce across the desk. At this point my mind was made up. These people are not here to sell cars! They are simply vultures trying to abuse the good products that Subaru makes. While Subaru produces a great product I fear for their future if this is allowed to continue. If you wish for quality service and a good product there are many many options out there. Where sales staff will treat you with respect and support you in the life of the vehicle. If you really must purchase a Subaru, you would be well advised to do so outside of Edmonton Subaru monopoly. (As both dealerships are owned by the same company and managed poorly.) I hope this information assists you with your future purchases. More
"Rude as heck" Very rude people. Worst experience in buying a car ever! The sales manager was yelling at me saying there is no way I am leaving there in a car tonigh Very rude people. Worst experience in buying a car ever! The sales manager was yelling at me saying there is no way I am leaving there in a car tonight. I had enough and said "thank you very much I'm just going to leave now". He runs out of his office points his finger at me and yells "Are you being sarcastic". I said nope just want to thank you for your help and good bye. I then went across the road to the Honda dealership. More

I had done lots of research and had made my mind up on the vehicle including options and colour. Olie treated me respectfully, assisted me in getting a fair price and did an excellent job following up on the installation of a hitch through to the delivery of the vehicle. My only issue with the vehicle in the 24 months since purchase has been a creak in the dash. The service department has been successful in resolving the problem and now I can say it has been an amazing vehicle. You can always get a better cappuccino at the expensive dealerships but I don't need that from my service department and that would not be a subaru thing anyway. More

Appalled by the dishonesty and lack of due diligence City Subaru Edmonton: -Did not abide by their regulations as a licensed dealership to disclose the required mechanical history to the customer. -The City Subaru Edmonton: -Did not abide by their regulations as a licensed dealership to disclose the required mechanical history to the customer. -They did not complete their due diligence as a licensed dealership. -They put several lives at risk by selling a vehicle that had been rebuilt improperly, yet claiming a clean inspection. -They were unreasonable when finding a solution to the problem. -They showed little concern for their customer’s satisfaction and safety. FULL STORY: In March 2014, I purchased a 2013 Subaru Forrester from Subaru City, in Edmonton Alberta. I had done much research on a safe and reliable vehicle that would suit my new family’s needs. Subaru city had several 2013 models available with low km’s and upon test driving, discussing accident history with the sales associate, checking the car proof report, reviewing a clean inspection report and completing due diligence on my end, I purchased the vehicle with confidence. Much to my dismay, I later learned, only by chance, that the vehicle had an extensive mechanical history that was never disclosed by the dealership. After purchasing the vehicle with 19,000 km’s, the 2013 Forrester stalled 3 times in 8 months. One of those times, on Deerfoot Trail, a main artery in Calgary, at rush hour. Not only putting my life and my baby in danger (I was 5 months pregnant) but also those on the road with me. After much discussion with the mechanic at the Subaru dealership in Calgary, he was concerned and persistent in finding the problem. What he learned was disheartening. The vehicle had come from another dealership in Edmonton (Rally Subaru) where the engine had been replaced, transmission extracted in order to do so, and evidently reassembled very poorly. In addition, on the 3rd visit to the Calgary Subaru mechanic, he reported the starter wires became detached from the engine, something he stated was very uncommon unless the vehicle had been in an accident. When brought to City Subaru’s attention, they denied knowing the mechanical history and were not willing to take responsibility or come to a compromise in order to resolve the situation. I had to file a complaint through the Alberta Motor Vehicle Industry Council (AMVIC) and only then did they make minimal effort to try and amend the situation. After some discussion and negotiation, the only solution they had was for me, the paying customer, to pay approximately $5000 more for a newer 2014 Subaru, where I would have to absorb the cost difference, and they would clearly make more profit. I simply wanted the vehicle I paid for, not the rebuilt version and giving them $5000 more out of my pocket, to fix their mistake, seemed incredibly unreasonable. I was willing to split the $5000 dollar cost with City Subaru because of the newer model but they refused the offer and were not willing to negotiate further. Not often do I complain but I am appalled at the dishonesty and poor service I received at City Subaru, Edmonton. I feel that it’s important other potential customers know the risk of dealing with City Subaru, Edmonton. After this terrible experience, I will not be buying a Subaru vehicle for my own family or recommending Subaru to friends and family. More
