Dealt with Eric Yuen (sales manager) when I went there to buy a new forester - not transparent at all and quoted me $10 000 more than another dealership. They try to drive up the price as much as they can. They will tell you they are giving you a deal by giving you a bunch a warranty’s in replacement of their dealership fee when in reality it is 2.5x the dealership fee, which is also usually already included in their MRSP. Also added on winter tires when they are pricing it out and quoted $2200 that would otherwise be $1500 on their website. More
Jan 28 2025 I dropped our Forrester off for some maintenance. Based on my description of problems I was given an estimate of up to $1500.00 to repair and I signed the work order based on thqt. An maintenance. Based on my description of problems I was given an estimate of up to $1500.00 to repair and I signed the work order based on thqt. An hour later Garth phoned to let me know that diagnostics and the repair tech had changed that to $500.00. Subaru could have told me the initial estimate was correct and I may never have been the wiser. I have dealt with Subaru City since 2019. They have always provided good service. I Bought the Forrester in 2019 so its not like they see me as a yearly repeat. My next vehicle will likely come from Subaru city also. Check me off as a happy and satisfied customer More

They acknowledged the They were sold a car that could not be registered because they hadn’t performed and registered an out of province inspection. They acknowledged the error and suggested to have the inspection down where we are, in southern Alberta and they would pay for it. They have not and now refusing to answer our emails and phone calls. They are a shady group! More
Just tried to make an appointment to speak to someone about the issues with my vehicle. They have no information available and ignored me. Subarus are not as reliable as they claim and Subaru Canada does about the issues with my vehicle. They have no information available and ignored me. I will never buy or support Subaru again as I’ve experienced two incidents that are not acceptable. First, the first winter after we bought our Forrester the drivers side power window would not roll experienced two incidents that are not acceptable. First, the first winter after we bought our Forrester the drivers side power window would not roll up in the cold weather. When I spoke to the dealership they asked me to bring it in but when I got there it worked fine as the vehicle had warmed up enough that it worked fine. It is still like that 5 years later not allowing me to use it in extreme cold weather. Second, when I went to put oil in the first time I was not sure what grade of oil to put in as it is not in the manual. I called the dealership and was told to put in 10w30. I discovered later that that was wrong and may have caused the leaky seals I now have. Not good customer service. More

I have been going to this dealership for 30+ years. I'm still driving the car I bought there 23 years ago with 485+K and they've done all the major servicing. The engine and transmission are still in I'm still driving the car I bought there 23 years ago with 485+K and they've done all the major servicing. The engine and transmission are still in good shape. When it comes to service and reliability, that record speaks for both the quality of the dealership's service department from 1990 to about 2022 and the vehicle. Five stars for that. 26 October 2024: In my opinion, the mechanics there are competent, but I have no respect for the current sales department management and don't think much of the current service department front end staff, some of whom seem to think the customer is now responsible for ordering their own parts. My partner was interested in purchasing a new Subaru. We thought things were going well; we test drove the models we were interested in, took the time to compare the specs, got an initial estimate of the vehicle's cost, made an appointment for a trade-in appraisal and returned the day after the appraisal. First warning: the sales department failed to communicate with the service department and the 9:00 appointment I made for the vehicle appraisal was basically cancelled, to be replaced with an estimate of the amount we "might" get and the promise that this wouldn't happen again. It was pretty much unnecessary because they have 15 years of service records on that vehicle and a walkaround and a drive through the parking lot should have sufficed, but whatever. My time is unimportant, apparently. We were in the middle of negotiations with a salesperson who had to seek an answer for almost every question we had from either the finance manager or the sales manager. We were actually going to make a purchase and went out to take a final look at the one available car. We were not sure on one issue, and that was the colour of the car. Not a big deal, except that when you're spending $50K on a new car, you can surely get what you want. Our alternatives were, apparently, take this one or wait months, and we've seen from other one-star reviews that their promises of delivery five months in the future can evaporate. All we took was 15 minutes to have that conversation and were ready to buy. When we returned, the salesperson told us it had just been sold. We feel for her, as she did do her best to get us the information we needed. She lost a sale due to the unfair and dishonourable conduct of her sales and finance managers when they made the conscious decision not to notify us that there was someone else in the dealership interested in the same vehicle. One wouldn't look at me when I confronted them in the sales office, and the other said "Well, you told us you didn't like the colour, so what are we supposed to do?" Buddy, you knew what you were supposed to do; you were at the salesperson's desk when we asked for a few minutes and you said to go ahead, and you knew at the time that another deal was in process, of course. We surely had earned at least that level of respect because of our definite overall interest in the vehicle and the fact that we had done in excess of $150K sales and service business over the years. But thanks, Eric and Philip, you helped us dodge a bullet as post-sales service and trade-in valuation seems to be an issue identified by other reviewers on Google Reviews. It'll be a long cold winter if you were actually truthful in saying your next delivery is five months out and all you have is overpriced trade-ins. More
