This is Leigh Heppner, General Manager at Preston GM. I’m sorry that you are unsatisfied with your experience, but I would like to clarify a few of your concerns. My understanding is that you have already discussed them with our service manager. We do not have an overall company policy that enforces the use of masks because of the advice of WorkSafe BC, the BC CDC and the Provincial Health Officer. We are strictly following physical distancing protocols and only using masks when they are required, as advised. This is a quote from WorkSafe BC’s website: “The BC CDC advises that surgical/procedure masks should be used by sick people to prevent transmission to other people…. They also advise that it may be less effective to wear a mask in the community when a person is not sick themselves. Masks may give a person a false sense of security and are likely to increase the number of times a person will touch their own face (e.g., to adjust the mask).” Our company policy is to not allow people who are sick to come to work and to use masks when necessary. With that being said, we are taking your feedback seriously because we want all of our customers to feel comfortable when they come to the dealership and have supplied our service advisor staff with disposable masks for any customer who wants to use one or when they need to come into closer contact with a customer to address a concern. As for the dash cams, we have a company policy to disable dash cams when any vehicle comes in to abide by federal privacy law. We cannot be certain that no other customer information will be visible and recorded by a dash cam and therefore we choose to disable them. We do not delete recordings. This is disclosed on the paperwork when signing in your vehicle.
