🚫 Never Again, Kia. 🚫 Our Kia literally broke down in the middle of the road due to a known engine defect that has an official recall. The car was a 2012 with only 1 🚫 Our Kia literally broke down in the middle of the road due to a known engine defect that has an official recall. The car was a 2012 with only 141k km and Kia flat out admitted the engine failure was caused by this defect. Here is the kicker. The recall coverage only goes up to 100k km or 10 years. Since we were just outside that, Kia refused to help. No offer of assistance, no discount on a replacement, nothing. Just “too bad, you are out of luck.” Their customer service was absolutely horrible. Condescending, dismissive, and completely unwilling to acknowledge the danger of a car suddenly dying on the road. We never even received a recall notice and if we had, we would have brought it in immediately. Thankfully the breakdown happened on a quiet country road and not a busy highway, otherwise this could have been much worse. We went and bought a Mazda instead and I will never own a Kia or Hyundai again. Very disappointing because I really loved my Kia, but I will never trust them with my safety or my money again. Save yourself the trouble. Stay away from Kia. More
