Bad Experience with Picking up new car and Service I purchased a 2010 Forester in 2013. When I picked the car up they had misplaced my insurance / license papers and ended up letting me leave without. I purchased a 2010 Forester in 2013. When I picked the car up they had misplaced my insurance / license papers and ended up letting me leave without. After owning the car fro three months my engine was shuttering and stalling. I had to replace the ignition coil and spark plugs for $800 and had a loose heat guard they wanted $535 for and $112 labour. They held my car for a week when I bought it to detail it and give it a tune up. When I asked the service manager Tim why it needed so many fixes after I had just bought it, he replied "What do you expect, you bought a used car?". The car did cost me $22,000 and I thought I would have got better service for that price. When I did my Subaru survey after having the service I stated that I was told what to expect from a new car. I then had the service manager call me and threaten he was going to contact a lawyer, as I was slandering him. I put exactly what he said in the survey "What do you expect, you bought a used car?", so there was no slandering at all/ Needless to say I bought our newest Subaru at Richmond Hill Subaru and was treated 1000x better. I will never buy a Subaru from Barrie Subaru again. More

They were very accommodating around my schedule and the work was completed on time as promised. With her help we negotiated a good deal and then she worked hard to find the car we wanted and get it for us. Steve Gray worked patiently with us explaining benefits and costs of extended warranties etc. We were most impressed with all the people we met in the dealership. More
Months later and the problem still hasn't been fixed I have been having problems with an excessive amount of water entering my tail light. After having to replace both lights and the wiring harness, I have gone back 5 times and the problem still hasn't been fixed. I was told I will be called when my parts come in - never happened. I had an appointment set up to test where the water could be coming in (at first they thought the problem was a faulty light), and it was cancelled. I was promised a call back the same day to reschedule - that was 3 weeks ago - and I'm still waiting. I have had little luck reaching a person when I call over the 7 years I have had my car. I often drive in and stand waiting at the counter to schedule something as minor as an oil change. I am beyond unimpressed with their service, highly doubt I will be buying another Subaru anytime soon. More

There greatest concern was to ensure I paid the bill of $494.74 before releasing the vehicle to the towing company for transport to Toronto where experts could diagnose and repair.) On August 26 I had my 2008 Subaru Outback delivered to Barrie Subaru because of a clunking noise repeating every one hundred yards or so. The noise was definitely in the drive train and quite likely in the transmission. The next morning I called and was told that it definitely was the transmission and a flush of transmission fluid might help if not the transmission would have to be replaced at a cost of $9000.00 and well over $10,000 after taxes. Given the major disparity in cost between these two options I opted for the flush which did not improve the situation. Now over the years I have owned many vehicles some of which have needed transmission repairs. I have never faced a bill of even one third of $9000.00. As well my vehicle is nine years old and not worth a whole lot more that that amount. For these reasons I began to look for another shop to give me a second opinion. I settled on Transmission Depot in Toronto. In short order the Service Manager Joe Pronesti advised me that he was pretty sure that it was an electronic issue and shortly thereafter found that the transmission fluid heat sensor was malfunctioning. The repair involved installing a new Valve Body Assembly at a cost of $ 2311.92 and my car is now running as smoothly as it did prior to this problem. The $494.74 I spent at Barrie Subaru was a complete waste of money for which I received no value. Your technician(s) were incapable of making what turned out to be a routine diagnosis by the Transmission Depot. The transmission flush was recommended to me as a “ Hail Mary” procedure, before spending $9000.00 plus tax on a rebuilt transmission.
