We originally visited the Kanata Mazda dealership and were treated very well. We test drove a manual 5 speed Mazda 3 GX and were quite impressed with the way the car handled, as well as the quality of th were treated very well. At 110 km/hr., we noticed that the RPMs were higher than what we were used to seeing in our manual 5 speed 2002 Toyota Camry which we had been driving for 11 1/2 years. Comparing the Toyota's 2.2 litre engine to the Mazda's 1.8 litre engine, the reason for the difference in the RPMs was expected. We expressed our concerns about this with the sales consultant once we returned to the dealership after our test drive, however, he never suggested an alternate vehicle to us, perhaps based on the budget we had given him. We had a few questions about the servicing that Kanata Mazda would provide us if we purchased our vehicle there but unfortunately were told that their shuttle service would not be able to drive us as far east as we would require in order to get to work in the morning after dropping the car off for a routine service. This was the deal breaker for us because we only have one vehicle in our family and it would have meant we would have had to take a bus or a taxi to work from the farthest east location that the shuttle service would have dropped us off. We decided to look at other Mazda dealerships, using the Dealer Rater website and found that Bank St. Mazda had an excellent rating. We phoned the dealership and spoke to Zein Jolan. We explained what we were looking for in a vehicle, what our budget was and told him that we had already test driven a Mazda 3 GX. We told him our concerns about the higher RPMs than we were used to when traveling at 110 km/hr.. He then told us that the Mazda 3 GS with Skyactiv came with a six speed automatic and manual transmission, thereby providing better fuel economy during highway driving. Zein also told us that he had a brand new manual 6 speed Mazda 3 GS available for sale, already on his lot and asked if we wanted to go into the dealership that same day to test drive the same model. We arrived at the dealership and were treated with respect and friendliness, no pressure and no `over the top' sales pitches. We went for the test drive with Zein who explained the features of the car to us and were extremely impressed with the handling of the car, the quiet ride, the lower RPMs at 110 km/hr. when shifting into 6th. gear, and the upgrades that came with the GS model. We completed our sales negotiations with Zein and were extremely satisfied with the final results. We were further impressed with Kevin Yang's financial wizardry. We would definitely recommend Bank St. Mazda. More
