I have been waiting for a while to write this review as I have been waiting for the dealership to correct their shortfalls. Purchased a 2013 Mazda3 from Bank Street in August of this year. I was drawn to t have been waiting for the dealership to correct their shortfalls. Purchased a 2013 Mazda3 from Bank Street in August of this year. I was drawn to this dealer because of the ads they had on the radio advertising a his and her iPad-mini with the purchase of any new 2013 Mazda. The experience was great when we first arrived. I went for a test drive with Ivan and he was great. He knew everything about the car and explained all the features. After the test drive I left the dealership to check the other Mazda Dealers around Ottawa to see if they had the Mazda3 model I wanted (Manual Sport with Skyactv). I returned to Bank Street after discovering that no other dealership in Ottawa had the model I wanted. Once I showed up, Ivan was busy with another customer and asked if I could wait, which I did for over 30 min. Once Ivan had a free minute we started to negotiate the price of the car. However, Ivan had still had other customers he was dealing with so set me up in the lobby instead of either asking if I wanted to deal with any of the other half dozen free salespersons or if I wanted to sit at an empty desk. I sat negotiating with Ivan over the price of the car while sitting beside a child watching videos on their parents phone. During the negotiation I asked Ivan to break down the cost of the car several times (Taxes, extras, base car price, etc.). Each time I asked, he just kept asking me to make him an offer. Once I did that, he would disappear for 25-30 minutes dealing with his other customer or going to the 'boss' to see if we could make a deal. Going back and forth like this 4-5 times I finally got a 'wicked deal' according to Ivan. But it didn't feel like it and it still doesn't. I know this is the standard car purchasing negotiations, but after buying this car, I just felt bad. Once the price was set, I was taken to the finance room to meet Moe. This is where he asked if I wanted to get the extended bumper to bumper warranty or the oil change package with paint and interior warranty. I was interested in the interior warranty and oil change package, but I wanted to read the terms and conditions governing the agreement. I asked Moe to see them. Moe said that I would receive the terms in the mail after I bought the package, but not to worry because the package covered any damage to the interior of the car. I kept pushing for the terms until Moe finally gave in and showed me the terms from a previous sale. Upon reading the terms, I discovered that the warranty only covered 2 tears in the seats over the course of the warranty period and was very specific in the types of rips/tears/stains that were covered. I ended up purchasing the package because of the oil changes. I have yet to have the oil changed, but I am dreading having to deal with this location. Once the documents were ready to sign I asked for the iPad-minis that were advertised on the radio. Moe at first said that I had negotiated those out of the price of the car. However, I nor Ivan ever mentioned the iPad's during the negotiation. Ivan was then called into the office and said that the promotion was over and it was only one iPad not two. I insisted because the ads were running during the whole day on various radio stations in Ottawa. Both Moe and Ivan seemed to have no idea what their own dealerships promotion was. Finally Ivan said that I would receive a cheque for the price of one iPad not two. I left the dealership feeling awful. I had second thoughts of even going back to pick up the car. I wrote an email to the dealership about my experience to see if they would provide any feedback. The sales manager Sean Curly called me a few days later. I told him about my experience and asked what he could offer that would make me a satisfied customer. I told him I would have to get back to him. I called him later that day and left a message for him. It took over a week to get a hold of him again after leaving repeated voicemails and messages with the front desk. Finally, I got a hold of him and Sean said he would put a $300 credit on my service account for snow tires. I was content with this approach and decided to pick up the car. The car was in great shape when I picked it up. Very clean and Ivan went through all the features with me, one of the few positives. Overall the car has been ok. I was told I would get 900-1,000 miles by Ivan. I get about 700 and I drive mostly on the highway. Now that winter is coming I decided to use the credit I received to purchase snow tires from Bank Street Mazda. I phoned the service desk to make sure the credit was on the account before I drove out there. Surprise, it wasn't. I called Sean to see what the issue was and left a vmail. I called back the next day and got through to him, (Sean has never returned one of my phone calls), Sean said that he checked and put the $300 service credit on the account. Although I have the credit, I have decided I would rather purchase the tires from another dealership or company. I will only visit this dealership to receive the oil changes I paid for with the interior warranty. I would not recommend this dealership to any friend or family member. This experience has even made me second guess purchasing another Mazda in the future. More
