My 13 year old Porsche Diesel died without warning, so I - jwylie01
My 13 year old Porsche Diesel died without warning, so I went straight to Volvo Cars Toronto on Eastern Avenue the same day. We'd owned an XC90 before, so this wasn't a new platform to learn, and my research told me it was the right move.
I'd booked ahead with Lyana Tamin, the brand representative. She got back to me fast and had her team ready to move.
The one frustration was money, not car. We spent far more time on trade in value than on the vehicle itself. The initial number was a lowball, low enough that I nearly walked. Losing a deal over a couple thousand dollars, money that gets absorbed into the lease anyway, makes no sense. Lyana stepped in and came back with a fair number, and that saved it.
Tonya Thompson in Financial Services moved things along quickly once the numbers were settled. We signed the same day, about an hour total.
Pickup two days later was smooth. Jonathan, the brand ambassador, was patient walking us through the new touchscreen setup and the PHEV system.
One small note on presentation. Volvo as a brand stands for safety and security, and the dealership experience could do more to reflect that polish. Next to Porsche, it feels a step behind on the finishing touches, not the substance, just the shine.
Good team, worth the visit. Just spend less time negotiating and more time on the car.
