My son lost the key to his Mazda B3000 and went to River City of have another cut, he was told to go to a Mazda dealer as Ford didn't cut keys for Mazda's (even though the Ford Ranger and Mazda B3000 are th City of have another cut, he was told to go to a Mazda dealer as Ford didn't cut keys for Mazda's (even though the Ford Ranger and Mazda B3000 are the same truck) He went to the Mazda dealership and was told that it was a ford key and that if River City would have looked at the vin number they would have known that. He went back to River City and the Service Manager told him no they do not cut keys for vehicles that are older than 10 years - it's not possible, when we had had a key cut there last year with no problem. He was rude and barely looked up and just walked away. My son went to Midtown Ford where they cut the key for him in less than 10 minutes with no problem at all. I guess if I were going to buy a new ford I would be going to Midtown not River City where they have no customer service skills. More
I took my vehicle in for an oil change and a couple of minor issues to be looked at . I had good experiences last year, so felt I should continue with the service there. I made an appointment and called w minor issues to be looked at . I had good experiences last year, so felt I should continue with the service there. I made an appointment and called when I was going to ne 20 minutes late, only to discover they do not make appointments. And when I arrived , the service man Tim had no recollection of my appointment. One issue was an "engine" light that was on. It had appeared on in the past after sitting idle all winter and needing a battery boost. They said a full diagnostic was needed but I suggested only finding the computer connect to turn it off, since there had been no problem in the past with the light on. Tim had stated that a full diagnostic was done. The light was off, but returned on 2 days later. I was charged ( supposedly a reduced rate) $50 for this. When I called to talk to Tim, he argued that he told me only a full diagnostic would solve the problem. But if I had been advised that I would be charged the full amount gfor this test 2 days later with no credit for the first billing, I might have thought twice and agreed to the full diagnostic. Now I am out the $50. In addition, they adjusted a window that would not close completely. They charged ( supposedly reduced fee ) $80. This seemed fair until I compared it to another dealer's charge for the same problem and they charged only $10. I was also expecting to have the car there for 2-3 hours. When I called after 3 hours, I was told it would be ready in 5 minutes. When I arrived some 45 minutes later, they had not even started the oil change. It took another 45 minutes for a total of 5 hours there with very little work done. When asked Tim if there would be something done for me, he said "Are you out anything?". I was stunned at his lack of emphathy. They did not charge for the oil change, but when I thought of the total bill of $160 for what little was done and to end up with a problem still with the engine light, I felt cheated. Tim's belligerent attitude does not help the situation. They must have replaced good service people with bigger revenue producers that is at the expense of the customer. More

Very pushy and rude sales staff. It was as if they were going out of their way to make me feel uncomfortable because i wanted to think over a very high priced sale. We saw a vehicle advertised in the paper and stopped by River City on a Saturday to take a look. The vehicle was out being test driven by a customer but the salesperson Bob told us that he would call us i River City on a Saturday to take a look. The vehicle was out being test driven by a customer but the salesperson Bob told us that he would call us if the customer who had it out didn't want it. On Monday, as promised, Bob called to say it was still available. We went in to the city on Tuesday to look at the vehicle. Bob, our salesperson was excellent. He explained everything about the vehicle and also explained about the River City warranties, etc. Unfortunately that evening we couldn't come to an agreement on price. The next day we got a call from the Manager Ryan and we worked with him and came to a deal. Overall it was a good experience from start to finish. We were very happy with our choice and how the dealership handled everything. We would definately consider doing business with River City again and would recommend them to others. Just ask for Bob or Ryan. - John & Donna More

When I was sure that I wanted a specific new vehicle River City Ford had on their lot I dealt with Kyle in sales and Joe in financing. Both were very customer service oriented and professional. Kyle tol River City Ford had on their lot I dealt with Kyle in sales and Joe in financing. Both were very customer service oriented and professional. Kyle told me they added different options to the vehicle after meeting with me the first time when I was just looking so that they could try to sell it. Even though it changed the vehicle from what I wanted, Kyle said that they could change it back if I gave them a deposit. I gave them a $500 deposit on my credit card and did a credit application but didn't sign any paper work for finalizing the purchase before I changed my mind and decided not to buy the vehicle. When I asked for my deposit back Kyle told me to speak with Ryan the general manager. Ryan asked me why I didn't want the vehicle. When I answered he said he didn't care. He said he would send only half of my refund in the mail in 5 to 7 business days. He said he was keeping the other half because of the time and labour he spent on the vehicle and dealing with me. Ryan was very intimidating, insensitive and forceful. He seemed to want to punish me for not buying the vehicle buy keeping half of my deposit. Ryan's behaviour was very threatening. Kyle was watching. If you're not 100% sure of wanting to buy a vehicle from Ryan at River City Ford, do not give them a deposit. They won't tell you that if you change your mind, they will keep half for wasting their time. (There should be a sign at River City Ford telling potential customers that if you give them a deposit and decide not to buy a vehicle that there is a charge for wasting their time - half of your deposit) I don't think I will ever see my money again. I would be afraid if I saw Ryan in public because he seemed to be personally offended by my decision not to buy his vehicle. More
