I bought my car from this dealership in the summer of 2021. I knew going into the dealership that I would not be leaving there unless I had an extended warranty on it. It was a used car and the person that had it before I bought it leased it from Ford and added a cold air intake (CAI) to the engine and then gave the car back to Ford with the modifications still installed. As far as I know and what was told to me by the sales man and the financial person this is the only modifications that were done to the vehicle. When I originally talked to the sales person he told me that they don't give extended warranty on used cars. I found it strange when he said that but after telling him I wasn't going to leave here without one he gave in and said yes. Now was the time to sit down with the financial person. Up until that point it never occurred to me that the there would be a issue with the modification and warranty. The financial person started going over what was covered and he got to the engine part and it hit me. I asked him if there would be any issues and I still remember he's exact words. "Ford does mods like this all the time, it's normal. If another Ford dealer says no, then just bring it back to us and we'll fix it." I was satisfied with that answer. On the service agreement it actually says "customer is aware of aftermarket parts installed on car." Fast forward to last week. I was driving on the highway and heard a a bang come from my engine area. I live in Toronto and the closest Ford dealership was Yorkdale. I brought it to them and was told that there was a hole in my engine but they couldn't do anything for me because of the modification. I called Norway Ford and after a day or two of talking to the service manager (great guy, unfortunately can't remember his name) he told me that he has passed the info on to the general manager, Paul. I kept calling and leaving messages for him. He eventually answered my call and told me at some point he would text (sms) me and give me more details. While all this was happening I had to (and still am) borrowing my friends car to get to work. As far as I am aware, and this was confirmed to me by the nice service person at Yorkdale Ford, if I have an extended warranty then I get a loaner car. I finally get a text message from him and he says that he is just going to refund me the warranty money. I told him that was unacceptable. I still owe $24-25K on the car and was told that a new engine would be around $15K. He said that he was not aware that it needed a new engine and that he would get back to me. I also asked him what he could do for a rental car. He said to remind him the next day. So the following day I texted him in the morning and got no response, then again after work. He got back to me and said that he wasn't in the office today and he would text me tomorrow. At this point I felt like I was getting the run around. I told him that if I didn't get some answers about my car and a rental by tomorrow that I would have to start contacting people above him and going through other channels. His response to me was "I just had dental surgery and don't threaten me." I was nothing but nice and courteous with everyone I talked to from there. I even have all the text messages from him to prove that. I'm now in contact with his sales manager, Rob. It started off plesent enough with him but now he won't return any of my calls. This is an extremely frustrating situation and I'm thinking of contacting OMVIC. More
