How KiaGeorgetown restored my faith in humanity. Buying a car is not only an enormous financial commitment and a decision. It could somehow turn into roller coaster ride of adventure, dramatic twist Buying a car is not only an enormous financial commitment and a decision. It could somehow turn into roller coaster ride of adventure, dramatic twists and turns. A myriad of emotional highs and lows- one who was traumatized from an unpleasant buying experience from another KIA Dealer ending up in a heartwarming, faith restoring experience made possible by Kia Georgetown thru Christina Jelicic, Aaron Best, and Mike Rudat. This is how my adventure begins.... My love affair with my Porsche Boxster has to come to an end. I seriously needed space that will logistically support my passion as an aspiring age grouper triathlete. It seems KIA SOUL or SUV type vehicle will address my needs. So I thought and so was previously told by dealers that trading in my Porsche for a used car is the most viable option for me. Nothing could be further from the truth. The Bad adventure starts here.... My hunt for a new car brought me to 2nd dealer visit, a Kia Dealer in (401 Dixie Kia) Mississauga. All told, I was intimidated and threatened by this dealer. Its General Sales Manager tacitly indicated that he will bring me to court if I don't proceed in trading in my car and buy the used KIA SOUL 2010. I initially signed a VPA ( Vehicle Purchase Agreement) succumbing to emotional-buy-syndrome. I was being forced to buy the car despite pleading my case. Furthermore, I was told that my Porsche is now legally owned by this dealer They refused to hand back my Original Registration, my deposit and a cancellation. Afraid and confused, I went another KIA dealer, this time KIA Georgetown, to seek advice showing them my yellow copy of VPA, Here are some questionable practices they found out; 1) The threat by 401 Dixie Kia has NO LEGAL basis. The signatures in VPA are incomplete, therefore void. 2) 401 Dixie Kia overcharged the OMVIC fee of $34.20, instead of the standard $5.00. 3) Though its not illegal, 401 Dixie Kia is charging Admin fee ( 399.00) and pre- delivery expenses ( $ 771.00 ). These charges are usually applied on a new vehicle. Since I am purchasing old vehicle, these charges are not industry standard, much more a KIA dealer standard 4) I'm being overcharged by $6,000 from my car's remaining lien amount. Lessons learned derived - There is no "Cooling off" in buying cars, unless your very sure, don't sign the VPA. Not all KIA dealers are cut from the same cloth. Just as in life, the good and the bad exist. How my adventure ended happily ever after at KIA Georgetown.... Christina - I read your positive reviews prior to coming over, its the reason I came to KIA Georgetown. They were right! You were very patient, listened to my concerns, treated me like I was your family and really helped me. You were able to get 30% higher appraisal of my Car than what I was told by previous dealers. You let me test drive 3 cars to broaden my options. You worked out the very best value for a car I could get. You worked hard to get me a substantial discount. You help restore the confidence in myself. How I terribly undervalued and grossly under estimated my financial capacity by thinking I could only afford a used Car. You showed me that I could easily buy a brand new KIA SOUL SX SPECIAL EDITION ( 1 of 250 units only in CANADA). No other dealers ever told me that. Perhaps these dealers are too fixated in maximizing their profits margins? Or perhaps these dealers forgot to really listen and provide best value for customer? Or perhaps its just how you and the professional caring culture of KIA Georgetown really are? You went above and beyond the call of duty just to help me out. You stayed 2 hours past closing hours just to get it done. I truly admire your kindness and care for me as an individual, not as a buyer. You are a wonderful human being! Thank God He lead me to you! Aaron Best - You are the man behind the scene, the driving force to make it all happen. You negotiated hard for my loan, stayed late to prepare my documents so i could get the car early and work the numbers with rigor. You patiently explain in person and in email, my financial concerns , my options and contract details. My previous traumatic experience made me skeptical and guarded, but your top tier professional and calming cheerful demeanor changed all that. MIke Rudat - Your leadership, experience and knowledge in car industry is undeniable! The manner in which you conduct your business is a class act, a high degree of professionalism and ethics. You were very honest in sharing to me what are the acceptable, legal and ethical "charges" a dealer imposes on its clients. I was threatened and almost got skimmed with unethical charges. You made sure thats not going to happen to me! Kia Georgetown is a World Class institution, a class act of its own, I commend its leaders/ Its owner for forging a culture, for adapting a costumer centric business model and an epitome ethical-honest business conduct. This dealer, its men and women, is cut-above-the rest in professionalism and customer services. Perhaps other KIA dealers should learn from you. Faith restored!
