Recently, I purchased a Tacoma from Landmark Mazda, and within five days, I found myself at Toyota Gateway for a routine oil change. It was there, under their watchful and expert care, that a significant issue was uncovered: a leak in the rack pin, compromising the steering wheel fluid. This was especially alarming given that Landmark Mazda had assured me of the vehicle's perfect condition upon purchase, an assertion backed by a comprehensive vehicle health sheet. Confronted with the potential repair costs nearing $3,000, I reached out to Landmark Mazda only to be met with a disappointing lack of concern and accountability. They dismissed the issue as mere "sweat" rather than a leak, without offering any substantial evidence or assistance. In sharp contrast, the response from Toyota Gateway, steered by Michelle Reid, was nothing short of exemplary. Michelle demonstrated unparalleled professionalism and empathy, advising a more detailed inspection of the Tacoma. This led to an overnight investigation by their mechanic foreman, who, under Michelle's and her manager's guidance, provided undeniable evidence of the leak through detailed photographs and video recordings. What truly set Toyota Gateway apart was their commitment to going above and beyond for their customers. Despite my warranty having expired, which could have left me facing a substantial financial burden, Michelle and her team managed to cover the necessary repairs. Gateway serviced my new Toyota Highlander (16,000kms) and installed the o-ring on the filter cap housing on the threads instead of in the appropriate slot. This caused the oil to leak out which resulted in l installed the o-ring on the filter cap housing on the threads instead of in the appropriate slot. This caused the oil to leak out which resulted in low oil pressure which can cause immediate or long term engine damage. This is the simplest of tasks ( the filter box even has a picture on it as to where to install) The service manageress was unapologetic and had a "could care less" attitude. I will not be buying another vehicle from this dealership. More
Very bad experience. Made a deposit on a ‘23 Highlander on Jan 2, 23. Was told by Mark delivery would be in 6-8 months and that we would receive updates. 6 months, not a single update. I called and was told “the order is at the factory”. 8 months come and go. Contacted them again. 12 hours later, received text from Charles who was “now looking after our account”. Was told that toyota pushed our order back to Nov/Dec so they could build their new Grand Highlander. Was also told our order would still come in as a ‘23 even though it would almost a year after we ordered. That was the last straw. Toyota clearly does not give a xxxx about customers who have placed a factory order and Gateway totally dropped the ball with their lack of follow up. They clearly lack internal checks and balance to ensure that their customers are not ignored. We felt that if we are this poorly treated before the sale is completed, we have ZERO confidence that Gateway Toyota or Toyota Canada would be of any credible support if some major issue arose with the vehicle. To his credit, Charles offered no resistance when we requested cancellation of our order and requested a full return of our deposit. We decide to switch to a different manufacturer, 3 text messages, 2 phone calls, and just over a week later we are now drivers of a 2024 highlander competitor. More
Pushing the buck from service advisor team to sales team to finance team. I paid for the GEM package where money is paid up front for several services. I asked why I was not advised of this previously and she blamed the sales and finance teams for not being clear of the package offerings. So I asked why the advisor did not inform me when I called to book and she said they don't check for dates!! I called the General Manager, Chris Schulz and told him of my terrible client experience and his first question was if I spoke to the Service Advisor Manager as they deal with such issues!!! The buck stops at the top but he did not seem to understand this nor did he offer any solutions. They are happy to take your money upfront and not provide the service!! More
