Our 2017 Tuscon is experiencing heavy oil loss and ap If you are looking for a vehicle of this make, choose anything else, Do not purchase a Hyundai. Our 2017 Tuscon is experiencing heavy oil loss and apparently this is a very common thing. Type in Hyundai oil consumption in your search engine and you'll see exactly what I mean. It's a very big problem (lawsuits in the US)that Hyundai refuses to acknowledge. They are currently conducting an oil consumption test on our Tuscon and so far they deem a litre of oil consumed within 1000km acceptable. This is laughable. The car runs awful (it actually shakes when idling ) But yet they say nothing is wrong (we are up to date on our service schedule) I assume they are waiting for my warrenty to dry up and then tell me everything that is wrong with the vehicle. I know exactly what is wrong, as It was explained to me by a Toyota/Hyundai specialist mechanic. The pistons are shot, low compression, and the oil is black after only 2500 km, of whatever oil is left. It needs a new engine, period. We are going back within 2 weeks for them to check our oil consumption again, so look for an update soon. More
