I brought my 2016 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid to Cooksville Hyundai for a recall engine replacement. Unfortunately, my experience has been extremely poor and the work appears incomplete. Communication Issues: - The service team did not return calls despite multiple follow-ups. - Updates were inconsistent, and I often went days without hearing back. Service Quality Concerns: - After the recall engine swap, the vehicle was returned with new issues that were not present before. - Additional repair estimates (belt tensioner, ignition coils, serpentine belt) were presented after the recall repair, even though these problems appeared only after their work. Technical Issue: -Diagnostic trouble codes P0C17 (Drive Motor A Position Sensor Not Learned) and P0A4C (Generator Position Sensor Circuit) were found. -According to Hyundai’s own service bulletins, these codes occur when the position sensor learning procedure is not completed after an engine replacement. - This indicates that Cooksville Hyundai failed to complete the calibration properly during the recall work. Management Response: - When I raised concerns, the General Manager dismissed my complaint, told me to “take the car elsewhere,” and suggested I remove my negative review instead of resolving the problem. - I found this response unprofessional and hostile, especially since the issue directly relates to recall repair work. On April 21 I went to Cooksville Hyundai for a routine service and winter tire swap. During the service, one of their staff damaged my Santa Fe by taking a turn badly and scraping it off the wall. The keep saying they have not been able to arrange for a loaner car. A car dealershipo can't find a car for me to use for something that was their fault????? Numerous emails, text messages and phone calls are not responeded to. It is like they do not exist. I have been there multiple times and get the same story that they can't find a car. Contacted Head Office and they are no better. They said they would contact the dealership to resolve the issue and get back to me in 3-4 days. Over a week later and not a word and they also do not respond when I try and get hold of them. Like my car but the customer service is a disgrace. More

I went to Cooksville Hyundai to get an AC inspection done as it was blowing Hot air in 30 degrees outside. Post a 10 min inspection, service guy came back and said the refrigerant was contaminated and our ma as it was blowing Hot air in 30 degrees outside. They claimed I had the wrong refrigerant installed and asked me to take it to another agency where I got my service done from 5 months ago as they claimed they could have done something to refrigerant. I called Kingcross Hyundai and they said nothing was touched related to AC in a oil change service of course. I tried to push cooksville to give me a solution or tell me what the actual issue is as the service was done 5 months ago and AC stopped working 2 days ago. They just basically told me to give them $170 bucks for a worthless inspection and go away in simple words.  I found time to drive 1.5 hour in 30 degrees from mississauga to Kingcross Scarborough location after a week and pay another $170 inspection fee to them due to cooksville's incapability.  Within 10 mins, they found a bird behind the bumper that had the whole AC condenser sheet damaged that caused refrigerant freon gas to leak. They told me the fix was to replace condenser sheet and recharge the gas for $1100 total. I was happy paying the inspection fee to them as they actually found the issue.  I went back to Cooksville hyundai to speak to their Service Manager Phil Scolieri which I thought would be a help considering his position which I am not sure how an incapable person got posted on. I asked him why their rookie mechanic did not tell me the actual issue being the whole condenser sheet being damaged and a literal dead bird sitting in the car and his reply was "Mechanic must have missed it" . I told him the job their team was paid for, was not done properly and the information provided "Refrigerant contaminated" was worthless as I still had to pay another location for the same job they were supposed to do. Phil's reply was "Charge is for the time Mechanic puts into the vehicle, He still worked on it". Even though I was told to take the car to another agency and the time technician put was worthless, I asked him the $170 is hourly however the max time your mechanic put was 10 mins. Phil's response "No, it was more time actually as we do a car wash as well".  I am filing this case with the consumer board as this had me suffer in peak heat for 3 weeks in addition to costing me worthless inspection fees and mental distress of trying to make a guy called Phil understand his job. I had an awful and uncomfortable experience at Hyundai Cooksville . I was mislead by a service manager and experienced blatant racism by the man at the service desk. My engine has an engine tick that progressively got worse in the last 2 years. HARASSMENT: In Feb 2023, I reached out to hyundai cooksville for assistance. The service manager at the time told me that my car qualified for an engine recall. He indirectly offered to give me his number by casually mentioning I didn't have his number. I thought he was being friendly, and I felt compelled to take it since he was "helping" me. He indicated I should get copies of any oil changes I had done. I returned with as many receipts that I could find. Upon returning with the receipts, he scanned the documents, and supposedly submitted the recall request. He turned around and said "all done, and approved you will get a new engine." I believed him. I booked an appointment via the Hyundai appointment line to have my car diagnosed to figure out why my car was intermittently not starting. Upon arriving for my appointment the man at the front desk stated that I was not booked, my appointment was not in the system and he was all booked up for the day. I informed him I booked the appointment with the appointment line. He indicated the appointment line has to confirm with dealership otherwise they double book. I calmly explained that I had taken time off work, and was concerned about my car as I had to miss work on various occasions due to my car failing to turn on. I called the appointment line to confirm if there had been an error, the lady confirmed my appointment was correct, and it had been opened. I ended the call and presented the information to the man. RACIST REMARK/ STEREOTYPE: After I calmly presented the information provided by the appointment line operator, he confirmed he had opened my appointment, but could not fit me in as there were other appointments. I asked him " what is the point of the appointment line?" The man looked at me and stated: " I am going to try and help you, but first I have a question... are you latina?" I was seriously taken aback.... what does my ethnic background have to do with the situation? I hesitantly replied " yes... why do you ask" He replied with " Because I know latinas can go from here (brings hand low to the desk) to here ( brings hand up above his head). I paused, and calmly reiterated my concerns: " Sir, I took two hours off work to make it to this appointment. I have been left stranded by my car in a dark parking lot at night in the middle of winter. I have missed work because of this car issue. I am beyond stressed and I am looking for a solution". At this point the man finally seemed to take my concern seriously. He stated he didn't know what had been done to my car, and was unsure how he could help. I played him a recording of my car failing to turn on. I also informed him of the recall my car qualified for. He looked in the system and stated there was no recall for my vin. I assured him the previous service manager had submitted the request.Turns out the service manager never sent the request. I called Hyundai Canada in tears, crying frustrated. I told them I felt harassed and racially profiled. The offered to contact Cooksville Hyundai and that they would get back to me in 3-4 business days. A month has passed and no one has gotten back to me. Hyundai Canada also looked up the recall- and informed me that my car did qualify for the Piston Ring open recall. They told me I did not require any documentation to qualify. I booked an appointment with streetsville Hyundai, and the service desk representative went above and beyond to help me.
