Rant - Sherwood Kia Took my car to Sherwood Kia last week as it had stalled while I was out getting groceries. I've taken my car there many times with no issue and used to be pretty pleased with the ser week as it had stalled while I was out getting groceries. I've taken my car there many times with no issue and used to be pretty pleased with the service, however I will not be returning and urge anyone else to avoid them as well. Took my car in Monday, it wouldn't start and needed to pump the gas to get it to start and even when it did, it was running really roughly. Kia called me the next day to inform me it just needed a new battery and since it was a Costco battery, they couldn't replace it. I was under the impression this was NOT an immediate need, and also didn't believe it was the battery because why would I need to pump the gas to get the car to start if the battery is dead. Car stalled again Wednesday, had it towed and was told they could do a test on the alternator, but I needed to replace the battery first; they would take the battery out and I could pick it up and swap at Costco and they would install a new one. Went in Wednesday night only to be told they didn't have time to remove my battery, and that they would test the alternator with a spare battery from the shop anyway. Thursday rolls around and sure enough they say my alternator is fine, but I need to bring them a new battery. I complied and also asked that the alternator be tested with my new battery. The alternator was "running low but under normal parameters". However, upon driving home from the dealership on Friday my car stalled again. I immediately contacted Kia who essentially told me they weren't able to recreate the stalling, and that they could "work with me to find a solution" . I told them I was not interested in taking my car back as they had it all week and couldn't find the problem (despite running an "Engine Diagnostic"). I was not willing to go without a car for another week while they suggested repairs that weren't remotely related to the issue. Took the car to another mechanic and less than 24 hours and 400 bucks later had a fix - faulty Crank Shaft sensor. The mechanic had successfully recreated the stall and driven my car for 20+ mins after repairing to ensure it was fixed. Kia is now refusing to refund me for the diagnostic because their techs couldn't recreate the issue. I was never once contacted for more detail about the issue when the techs couldn't recreate it. I was also told by the Service Manager that he didn't believe the crank shift was the actual issue - it's actually a catastrophic engine issue that isn't under warranty (go figure, $$$) TL;DR don't take your car to Sherwood Kia unless you want to be gaslight and charged for them to not do their jobs More
This is our 2nd time buying a Kia Sportage from this dealership in Sherwood Park. Our 1st time was actually in 2008 when we purchased a new 2008 Sportage. A few weeks ago, I popped in to ask a Sales person for their advice about a possible trade-in, as I felt our Sportage had a few more great years in it but we were just feeling like a change. I grabbed the Salesman's card & left, telling him I'd be in touch soon. A week later I was back speaking with that same salesman, Amin Rajpar. He was EXTREMELY helpful with every question I had with regards to my choice in our next Kia. From day one, of me just popping in to let him know my husband and I were interested in a new purchase up to the day of pick-up, Amin was very pleasant to deal with. He was never 'pushy' or 'greasy' as is with a lot of other car sales people I have dealt with. Amin explained how to navigate around the many new features of our new Sportage. Going from a 2008 Sportage to a 2026 X-Line Sportage has been extremely exciting, especially with all the new technolgy! No more Google Maps on my cell phone! Bringing the new vehicle home was a 3 hour drive but it was extremely comfortable. I felt like going on a road trip instead of heading back home, it was that great! Thank you, as well to the other members of the Kia Team that I met during the process. I met Brooklyn, another Sales person who was very personable & busy showing customers various vehicles. The finance guy, Terry, who walked me through the new financing as well as going over the warranty and extra protection packages I wanted. And Scott, a Sales Manager, who was very funny & friendly as well! As my experience dealing with these few great members was fantastic, I did turn down my trade-in with them. As luck would have it, while I was wandering around looking at the various choices of new vehicles in their new show room, I met a wonderful family who was actually looking for a vehicle & when they heard I was trading my '08 Sportage in, they asked to see it. I was initially in shock when the woman immediately contacted her husband to come see it. Things happened so fast, they wanted it and next thing I knew I was asking Amin to cancel my trade-in. Everyone was pleased and things went so smoothly with BOTH the sale of our old Kia and the purchase of our NEW Kia! All-in-all, it was a wonderful experience. This was an absolute nightmare experience at Sherwood Kia, and I strongly advise avoiding their service department. I originally brought my car in for a repair with no check engine light on. What should have been a straightforward one-day job turned into four visits over two weeks, an overnight stay without any prior notice, a roughly $5,000 bill, and significant disruption to my life and work. Here's what happened: After the first visit, I picked up my car only to immediately get a check engine light that wasn't there before. On the second visit, they kept the car all day, provided a detailed explanation of the issues, but handed it back still with the check engine light and nothing properly fixed. I had to provide videos and photos just to prove the problems were real. The third and fourth visits dragged it out further. They never informed me that the work required the car to cure overnight—I only found out by calling at 4:45 PM on a Friday (they close at 5:00 PM) when I hadn't heard anything all day. I had specifically told them earlier that day that I needed my car because I was working the next morning (Saturday). Their response: “I have no solution for you.” Because of the lack of communication, I missed work the next day. No one contacted me in the morning to arrange an Uber (as previously mentioned), so I paid $48 for a taxi to arrive at 9:00 AM as promised—only to find the car wasn't ready and was released an hour late, making me too late for my professional obligations. Their Uber service also doesn't pick up from Fort Saskatchewan, forcing me to pay for cabs each time. The poor communication, repeated failures to fix the issue, surprise overnight requirement, and complete disregard for my schedule and needs made this one of the worst service experiences I've had. If you're considering this dealership for repairs, go elsewhere—it's not worth the hassle, expense, or stress. More

After my 2021 Kia Seltos was unfortunately written off in an accident, I was feeling very upset and vulnerable. The first Kia dealership I visited was extremely pushy and tried to overcharge me, which only added to the stress. Walking into Sherwood Kia was the complete opposite experience. A huge thank you to Nishant, my salesperson, who was professional, attentive, and never once tried to oversell me or push unnecessary extras. It was refreshing to work with someone who genuinely listened to what I needed and respected my budget. He also took the time to walk me through all the electronics and features in my car before I drove it off the lot, which gave me so much confidence and peace of mind. I also want to recognize Jason in finance, who made the paperwork side of things straightforward and honest. No price gouging, no hidden surprises—just clear explanations and fair numbers. That kind of integrity is rare, and I truly appreciated it. On top of that, Sherwood Kia took care of putting on my winter tires, which was such a thoughtful touch, and they even provided me with a loaner car while I waited for mine to arrive. That level of customer care made me feel valued and supported every step of the way. I couldn’t be happier with my experience and would highly recommend Sherwood Kia, Nishant, and Jason to anyone looking for a dealership that truly puts the customer first. This dealership service department is terrible to deal with. Anytime that we have a need for parts or questions, They are terribly disorganized and are often not giving us accurate information. Recently we had to drive a two hour round-trip because they didn’t give us the proper parts. They now do not want to compensate the wear and tear time and gas money that it cost for me to turn around and do another two hour round trip. It also required me leaving a family event. The level of disrespect at this dealership has for people is absolutely stunning There was a couple there that loves almost 3 hours away from the dealership itself. The service department did not bother to mention that they close at two on Saturdays. They drove a six hour round-trip and had to wait for the service department person to come back just so they can get their part so that they wouldn’t have to do another six hour round-trip. This dealership does not care about customer service nor does it care about stepping up to fix their mistakes appropriately. Buyer beware - if you want to use Kia I would go to the West End. They’re phenomenal to deal with up there. I am now at a point that I need to escalate this up to provincial authorities just to have things addressed and dealt with appropriately. Very disappointed. I thought buying my 2021 Audi A5 from Sherwood Kia would be exciting — instead, it turned into one of the most frustrating and disappointing experiences I’ve ever had. When you’re in the showroom, they’re all smiles and sweet talk. They treat you like royalty before the sale. You feel like you’re in good hands… until the moment they cash your cheque. After that? You’re on your own. Right after the purchase, I noticed an issue with the tire pressure. I was reassured that it would be fixed properly. But guess what? They didn’t fix anything. They just topped off the air and handed the car back, hoping I wouldn’t notice. When the problem came back again — as expected — I tried contacting them. I called multiple times over almost a week, and every time I was told, “Someone will get back to you.” Not once did they follow through. When I finally did get someone to talk to me, they had the Confidence to suggest that I might have driven over a nail or something — as if I’m the problem. Completely ignoring the fact that the issue was there from the start and they promised to fix it. Zero accountability. Zero integrity. Even the sales manager couldn’t be bothered to return a single message. It’s like once you drive off the lot, you’re no longer worth their time. You’re just another number. This isn’t just bad customer service — it’s straight-up disrespectful. I trusted them, and they made me feel like a fool for doing so.
