Thank you for your note. We cetainly understand your point of view. Because of safety we cannot suggest and tell each customer that it may be just a cap. You could keep driving the car and then have a problem. In the end finding out that it is a gas cap and paying a scan charge is upsetting. Again we understand. We will be more than happy to credit your service account $50.00 towards the invoice you had. If you paid regular rates the charge would have been 99.95. Please e mail david.haldimand@hyundaiottawa.com with your name, etc and I will send you out your credit invoice. I will be out of the office to Oct 17, but we will make sure the credit is applied. According to my Hyundai manual, a continuously on MIL indicator means, "a component is not operating within normal range. This condition is HIGHLY UNLIKELY to lead to engine failure, unless a serious loss of power or very poor running conditions are apparent." Your employee did inform me that it was not serious and did ask if my car was still performing the same. What she failed to mention is the (admitted) common problem of the gas tank not being completely secure. That, along with a few other happenings has lead me to believe that Pathway Hyundai is not concerned about customer service. To note: 1) I got charged 0.15 hr for the installation of a lightbulb in my trunk. Seriously???? 2) Without my permission, my license plate frames where taken off and replaced with ones that advertise Pathway Hyundai. Not cool. 3) I was wrongly told that my extended warranty did not cover diagnostic charges. 4) I was not happy with the way I was treated in trying to handle my complaints directly. Mr Haldimand tried to convince me that all garages charge for estimates, which I found quite laughable. What will make me happy is to have every cent that I paid for the MIL diagnostic returned to me not as credit, but in cheque form. I am through with Pathway and cannot allow myself to spent another red cent there. However, if they choose to return my money, I will withdraw this complaint from Dealer Rater.

Our customer are certainly very important to us. We perform many no charge or discounted items for customer each day. You are correct that HYundai and Pathway have had great years and we want to keep it this way. The only way is keeping our customers happy. This is what I suggest because I believe I know who you are. First Name Dean?? Call myself on your next appointment. We will clean the car. vacumn, windows etc and we will pay for your next Service #1 oil change. This will compensate for the 60.00 you paid. I will be out of the office until Oct 17.
