I walked in thinking I was buying a normal car. Instead, they handed me a quote loaded with almost $7,000 in invented fees, including their ridiculous “AB Value Package” that nobody asked for. They More

Hey Vlad, We’ve reviewed your comments and want to clarify a few things. Pricing & Packages: All fees and optional products — including the Alberta Value Package — are clearly shown on the written quote. Nothing is hidden, and customers can decline anything they don’t want. Trade-In Values: Our appraisals are based on market data and reconditioning costs. Not everyone will agree with the valuation, but providing a number you dislike does not make it inaccurate or unfair. Follow-up Contact: We follow up with customers who request information or show interest in a vehicle. This is standard practice, and you can opt out at any time. At-Home Appraisals: This is offered solely as a convenience for customers with multiple vehicles or scheduling limitations. It is not a pressure tactic. The processes you described as “invented” or “hidden” are normal dealership procedures, and we stand by the transparency of the quote and the professionalism of our team. If you’d like to review the details in a factual way, our management team is available.

I want to share my experience so others are aware before buying a Kia. I owned a 2014 Kia Optima SX Turbo, and despite doing all required maintenance on time, the engine completely seized at only 135,000 k More

Hi Ali, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re sorry to hear about the trouble you’ve had with your Optima — engine issues are always frustrating, especially when you’ve tried to take good care of your vehicle. To clarify how Kia’s warranty process works: all manufacturers, including Kia, require documented maintenance records to confirm eligibility for warranty support. These records can include service invoices from a shop or receipts for parts and supplies if maintenance was performed by the owner. This requirement becomes even more important when a vehicle is well beyond its original warranty period — in Kia’s case, 5 years or 100,000 km. We understand it can be disappointing when the documentation isn’t available in the service history system, and we’re happy to review any records you may have. If you are the original owner or have any receipts or documentation, please feel free to share them with us so we can see whether there’s anything further we can do to help. Thank you again for your feedback.

I bought a 2010 Hyundai Sonata that Northland Kia consigned to Regal Auctions. Within two days, major mechanical problems appeared (engine knock-sensor faults and an oil-pan leak) that were never dis More

Hi Northland Kia, Thank you for confirming in writing that the vehicle failed your internal inspection and was not safe to drive before you consigned it to auction. That aligns exactly with what your staff told me privately — and with Regal Auctions’ Buyer Protection Program refund, which was issued for undisclosed mechanical defects. My concern has never been with Regal, but with your decision to advertise the same vehicle publicly (and again after the refund) without disclosing that internal inspection failure or refund history. I appreciate you clarifying your process here — it helps AMVIC and other consumers understand how this sale occurred.

Northland Kia responded

Hey Moe, the vehicle you purchased was towed, uninspected, and directly taken to the auction. Our internal records clearly marked it as unsuitable for retail sale due to safety concerns. Anyone who inquired about it, such as you did (and confirmed through writing), was told the vehicle would be sold at auction for potential safety reasons. Please note that once a vehicle is consigned to auction, Northland Kia has no involvement in the refund process. We did our diligence and declared that it was towed and uninspected. We understand that there has been some confusion regarding expenses such as fuel ($150, no less, even though it was a towed vehicle), cleaning, or uninstalled parts that were allegedly purchased and not returned; these items are not covered under the auction’s Buyer Protection Program. The refund you received was processed entirely in accordance with the auction’s policy for undisclosed defects, which was handled appropriately. We have spoken to the auction. Please refer to the response Regal Auction provided to you.Safety and transparency remain priorities in our operations, and we appreciate the opportunity to clarify how our consignment process works.Have a good day.

Having worked in automotive service for ~40 years I understand the materials involved. As stated, I don’t disagree with the charge in principle but find $17.93 on an oil change excessive. Somewhere around $5 I would consider resonable.
