I recently had the opportunity to stop by Lethbridge Kia in regards to a BMW SUV that I noticed on my way past the dealership last week on my way to dinner. Once I finished eating, on my way home, I stopped at Kia and took a closer look at the SUV. I liked what I saw, and looked it up on the Kia Lethbridge website. The vehicle was listed for 34,999, was a 2020 and had 80K KM's. I currently drive a loaded VW Alltrack with similar KM's, however it is 2 years older (2018) I felt that if I could get a reasonable trade in for my VW, I would spend a few grand extra to "upgrade" my ride. I am a car enthusiast and not a rube, so I know what I have and what it's worth. I also went into this transaction not at all needing a new car - I love my VW, I have maintained my VW, I was just curious as to what the difference would be between the vehicles, and if it was worth it to trade. So, I put my vehicle details into the Kia Lethbridge vehicle "estimator" and it told me that my car was worth right around 24K - which was the lower end of what I (and many estimates from sites like auto trader, kelly blue book, others deemed fair and reasonable.) I was hoping for the mid to high 20's. Shortly after I posted my information online, a sales representative was in touch with me within 20 minutes. This salesperson was the absolute highlight of my experience, and was polite, inquisitive and professional right from the start. The colleagues name was Landon, and I am so happy to see all of the great reviews on here for him specifically, as he was the best part of my experience. I answered some questions through text, and we set up an appointment for the next morning for a test drive. I was excited to show up at the dealership, and had high hopes for a deal. Landon was polite, genuine and courteous as he greeted me, and right from the start I felt like he was someone I was glad to deal with. We went on the test drive, and I already knew I was going to enjoy the car, and the test drive confirmed that it was something I'd like to pursue (if we could make a good deal on my VW) The BMW was no better, and no worse than my VW, so I felt like maybe a difference of a few grand would be enough for me to bite the bullet and "trade up" even though it was more of a lateral move sideways from a loaded VW to a basic entry level BMW SUV. We arrived back at the dealership enthusiastic to make something work. Luckily, I have never actually purchased a car through a dealer (private sales) so while I know how they generally operate, I've never been exposed to the "negotiation/dealership" process. This is where things broke down. As mentioned, Kia themselves offered me a quote of 24K online. My first offer at the dealer was for 20K (Far less than what I expected or hoped for) Once the first offer was declined, Kia came back at me with a "quote" for my car in the 17K's and some peppering in of "packages" that they'd throw in to sweeten the deal. So now we've gone from 24K online, to a 20K declined offer in-store, to all of a sudden my car being in the 17's. That is a 7K difference between what Kia offered online, to what their offer was when I came in. It was almost laughable. All in all, there would be a difference of $16,500 between the 2020 basic BMW with 80K and my 2018 loaded VW wagon with 89K. That difference was impossible to justify, and that was the final offer the dealer presented. There was NO WAY I'd shell out even 5K more, let alone $16,500 for a car that was no better than what I had. My curiosity turned into a wasted morning. However, the whole experience made me realize how grateful I am for my VW and that it is the perfect car for me, and now gladly will continue to be. I took a shot at a dealership experience, and walked away unsurprised it turned out how it did. I do want to specifically call out Landon - he was the best part of this, and an asset to Kia. Recommending this dealer only because of him, nothing more. More
Nothing against the cars, but the way this dealership deals with customers sucks! They don't care about being honest and transparent as long as they can get sales. Beware! I'm currently frustrated with Lethbridge Kia as they made me sign the Bill of Sale on September 30th for 2024 Seltos SX and was promised to get it by October 23rd. I made a down payment and paid already for two bi-weekly payments at Kia Finance without having the vehicle in my possession just to reach their sales quota for the month of September. They fail to fulfill their promise and the way they treat me really sucks. I am the one who always reach out about the delivery status of my vehicle and they always tell me it's arriving 'today' for the past two weeks already since Oct. 23. Yesterday (November 3) the vehicle arrived at the dealership and I got the text that it was ready for pickup by 4:24pm which is too late because registry and insurance who were waiting for my vehicle was closed already and will open again on Monday (Nov. 6). By the way I also gave them a Notice of Deal Termination yesterday and I wrote on the notice that if I will still consider having the vehicle I would like to remove the packages that I availed because I found out that those add ons doesn't really matter if I resell the car after years but before signing on September 30th they convinced me to get that because it adds up to the value of reselling the car which was a lie. I went there yesterday 5pm to make some changes to the bill of sale and to see if they already had the add ons like Alberta Value Package, SR propack, and PPF installed but I only saw block heater and all weather mats. The only thing they do is demonstrate how the system of the car works which is obviously easy to navigate, but when I asked if where are the packages they make me talk to other person and they immediately took the vehicle to the service area, then when I ask where is the vehicle they took it out again for me to see and has something new installed which is the undercoat paint or something. They disrespected my request and I have evidence of sms for three of them who works there to not install any of the add ons since Nov. 2nd. The only add on that they can remove is the extended warranty which doesn't make sense, because if you can revise that on bank then other add ons can be revised too. 6pm they were closing, I'm still there waiting for the cancellation of the deal but they turned off the lights and told me to get out and wait outside of their dealership until this morning because it's trespassing if I remain inside while all of them were leaving to get home. That was really horrible and traumatic experience for me. They are not even transparent on everything that the client's deserve to know which violates our right as a consumer. Take note: I talked to general manager yesterday in the morning while my vehicle is not yet on their dealership and he agrees to remove all the add ons that I availed and funny part is he told me to continue getting the vehicle because many wants it so I can sell it on higher price, which we all know that once you get the brand new vehicle on every dealership its value will drop immediately! I have purchased 2 vehicles here over the past couple years and Rumal has been fantastic. We sppreciate him and his great demeanor. HOWEVER i have had the worse serve ever not once but 3 times in a r years and Rumal has been fantastic. We sppreciate him and his great demeanor. HOWEVER i have had the worse serve ever not once but 3 times in a row. My vehicles (both kias) will not be coming back here for any services what so ever. Very disappointing. Does not return phone calls in a timely manner if at all and have even misplaced me keys so work could be be done when it was booked into the shop. This customer will not be returning. More
Didn't have a great experience with this dealership. On a Saturday they offered me $26,000 for my trade in and I wanted $28,000 so I left to think it over. Came back one day later to make that deal and they said they would no longer do that and only offered me $20,000. I guess you live you learn and I should have got it in writing but their loss. Ill now be buying my Carnival elsewhere. More
