My 2015 Ford Focus’ motorized seat and backup camera would stop working intermittently and always simultaneously both malfunctioned together, yet sometimes they would be fine for up to 3 weeks. Someti would stop working intermittently and always simultaneously both malfunctioned together, yet sometimes they would be fine for up to 3 weeks. Sometimes they would stop working or flicker on and off every day. When I first reported the problem the symptoms refused to reveal themselves until after I was leaving the service department that day; however, the advisor saw it and she took the car for a drive around the neighbourhood. I made a 2-day appointment starting at 8 AM for some other necessary work a few weeks down the road so that the technician could take the car home overnight to have a better opportunity to drive the car for his own use and hopefully see the 2 items malfunction. Fortunately during a second test drive after the other work on the car was completed the automotive technician experienced the 2 malfunctions. After troubleshooting and tracing wiring systems he recognized what was wrong and made the repair. My advisor had arranged a courtesy car for me, and all day I enjoyed driving a 2020 EcoSport. At intervals throughout the day my advisor phoned and texted me to update me regarding the work on the car. She was glad that I enjoyed driving the EcoSport and she was interested in me as a person experiencing her city as a shopper and sightseer. When she phoned me at 2:15 to inform me that the problem that had nagged at both of us was solved, she was jubilant and so was I. She was very pleased on my behalf that my labour costs were much less costly than anticipated because it was recognized very early in the time slot allotted. All along I felt that my advisor and the technician were interested in me, the customer, and in doing their best work on my behalf for my ultimate satisfaction with the work and my continuing enjoyment of my vehicle. I have been a customer at this dealership’s service department for 25 years. Besides doing their best to ensure customer satisfaction, the people that work there also concern themselves with our comfort while the work is being done, whether it is in their waiting room having coffee and entertaining ourselves with wifi or TV, or providing a shuttle service during non-Covid times, or allowing us to use a courtesy car. I am very grateful to the technician for the successful outcome of a frustrating problem. More
