My key fob wouldn't start the truck immediately after the oil change. I was still at the dealership so they checked my fob battery. I had put a new one in 2 weeks prior and that wasn't the issue. I didn't have time to deal with it so I got in my truck and started it. As I drove away, I noticed the engine light was on. I went back to the dealership and explained to them that these two issues did not exist before the oil change. They had also changed a ground strap which was a recall. This was done while the oil was being changed. I was then told there could be $170 charge for them to perform a scan. I question why I was going to be charged for something that wasn't an issue an hour prior to my vehicle being in their shop. Anyway, I agreed because I needed to find out what the issue was. I watched as two guys tried to perform the scan. Both of them seemed very confused and they were fiddling around and couldn't answer any of my questions because they didn't speak English. I went to the service desk and asked if I could see proof that those two men have their mechanics license. I was told they don't because they are lube guys. I was told they are trained to do scans as well. Then I watched as they got another guy to come over and help them. They were blocking what they were doing with their bodies so I couldn't really see. Turns out the check engine light was on and the key fob wouldn't work to automatically start my vehicle because of the work they did when they changed the ground strap. Luckily, I pay attention to what is going on because I could've been charged for something that was their negligence to begin with. I am so tired of this dealership. I bought my truck here, but I will not be going back for any more service because they are incompetent and they hire unqualified workers. More

Money grab and a pompous staff for sure as stated in the comments. If you are not knowledgeable about vehicles they will take advantage. This dealership preys on people who don't know better and are trusti comments. If you are not knowledgeable about vehicles they will take advantage. This dealership preys on people who don't know better and are trusting them to be honest. This dealership had me leaving and returning with new problems each time I came in for service or an oil change for the last 4 years. Coincidence or bad luck until the last 2 oil changes were both leaking due to sloppy work . The last oil change was performed 1 day before leaving on a trip to northern Ontario leaving me stranded in Sturgeon Falls ON - no oil in vehicle. Vehicle had to be towed from Sturgeon Falls to Sudbury where it was discovered that the oil filter was cracked - either already damaged or cracked while changing the filter. Either way this was the second time and difficult to believe it was a one off being the second time in a row. John Bear did not want to be accountable and laid blame on GM for defective filter. John Bear also insisted that the engine light that remains on since the oil leak was completely unrelated to the drive from Hamilton to Sturgeon Falls without any oil left in my vehicle ??? I now realize that much of the service that I had done on the vehicle was likely unnecessary - such as spending over $1200 including a discount to have all the lines changed under vehicle 3 months earlier which did not resolve clunking issue. Clucking was in fact due to loose bolts underneath after returning with the same complaint - they didn't see this during the inspection and decided the line needed replacing ??? I was then charged to have the bolts tightened - nice. They said I must have have had work done somewhere else because they never touched the bolts ??? The positive comments on this site can only be made by knowledgeable customers that the dealership is unable to rip off. This is the 3rd vehicle purchase through John Bear - that's what you get for being a loyal customer. Hope this helps someone. More
Buyer beware, I had expected a safe transaction when purchasing a used vehicle from John Bear dealership. I held the belief that John Bear was a reputable and responsible company, one that would treat i purchasing a used vehicle from John Bear dealership. I held the belief that John Bear was a reputable and responsible company, one that would treat its customers with respect. However, my experience turned out to be quite the opposite. Shortly after acquiring my 2016 Chevy Cruze, I discovered that the spare wheel compartment contained several inches of water. It took a week to resolve this issue, and it was evident that the dealer had previously attempted a repair without verifying its effectiveness. Now, less than six months later, I'm dealing with a persistent moaning noise whenever I turn the steering wheel. The John Bear service department informed me that it requires a rack and pinion steering column replacement, which is currently out of stock and on backorder due to the GM strike. When I reached out to the used car agent and manager for assistance, their only response was, "You should have purchased an extended warranty." There was no genuine concern for customer satisfaction or retention. It's clear that John Bear does not stand behind the used vehicles they sell, and they seem indifferent to maintaining positive customer relations. This has been my most disappointing experience with a car company, and I have no intention of doing business with John Bear again, nor will I consider buying another Chevy vehicle. More

As a resident of Hamilton I grew up hearing about John Bear, and watching their commercials on TV. I was very excited to purchase my dream vehicle a Cadillac SRX from them, unfortunately this purchase ha Bear, and watching their commercials on TV. I was very excited to purchase my dream vehicle a Cadillac SRX from them, unfortunately this purchase has very quickly turned into a nightmare. I am not sure if my poor treatment is how everyone is treated or if it was only reserved for me. First and foremost do NOT buy the protection packages they are a rip off and an expensive upsell.(I purchased the Gold package it's absolute garbage) From the moment I drove this vehicle off the lot I have had problems, the ABS system had to be completely redone a month after purchase. The front tire kept on going low (valve issues) and the paint on the hood peeled off. Clearly I was sold a lemon! Let's start with the ABS system, they refused to cover the payment, I thought I was going to lose my mind, I was so angry, they then held me over a barrel and told me they would treat it as an insurance claim and I would have to pay the 250.00 deductible plus tax. As I needed the truck to go to work I reluctantly paid it even though I just paid over $25,000 for this vehicle the month before. I brought the vehicle in to the dealership many times to have the tire topped up. I was finally told that the problem was the tire valve they wanted me to bring it in and pay for the leaky valve which I refused to do. They finally fixed it without charge 8 months later. The hood of the car is still not fixed they gave me a paint pen in March to fix the damage, It covered the big blotches on the vehicle however it looks awful ( they really should have repainted the hood which is what I asked for). I have been back so many times to complain, they took pictures at the beginning of August I didn't hear back from them. I called in September and was told that a manager lost my paper work. I went back again and had pictures taken I just received a letter that I have been denied to have it fixed. I don't know how they can get away with selling a defective product. They say that they inspect their used vehicles before they leave the lot clearly this is not the case, I have been in a constant fight with John bear since January 2022 it is now October 2022. I don't know what else to do, I have tried to get hold of the GM however his info seems to be a guarded secret. I am so disappointed I am driving a vehicle that I hate because of all of the trouble that I've been through. I'm so embarrassed to drive it with blotches on the hood it looks so bad! I will Never purchase another vehicle from this place again. I am thoroughly heart broken, I am disgusted and disappointed. More
