I recently bought a new 2011 Honda CR-V at Point West Honda. I had previously purchased a new CR-V from them in 2006. The service at Point West was always top of the line, and it had a lot to do with my Honda. I had previously purchased a new CR-V from them in 2006. The service at Point West was always top of the line, and it had a lot to do with my decision to buy another CR-V. Cas was a very helpful salesman, not at all pushy. he sowed me both new and used vehicles and let me make my own decision about what best suited my needs. Thanks Cash and Point West Honda! I admit that it is not the dealership's fault, I know it's their job to sell you as much as they can. Within an hour after signing the contracts I decided that it wasn't worth it for me to buy the warranties or the life and disability insurance because it cost more than half of what my car is worth. I called the financial service who dealt with me, Melanie Maloney and told her about my decision her response was " I already sent it off to the bank, I wont be able to cancel it. I can ask my manager if you want." Then proceeded to say that "why would you want to cancel it, it's basically for your benefit" (in a very condescending tone) and disregarded my request. After two weeks or so, I read my policies and in fine print stated that I am able to cancel my life and disability insurance within 10 days, which Melanie Maloney failed to inform me of when I called to cancel. Yes I acknowledge that I should have known better, I should have read the contract but could she not have informed me when I called her an hour after I have signed the contract? So less than a month after I purchased the car and the warranties I decided to cancel everything (except the car) that I bought from them. I called again to tell her that I wanted to set up an appointment to cancel the tire and rim warranty and her response was " why would you want to do that? You know this gets used allot right?" (again, in her condescending tone). She also said she might not be able to cancel it that she would have to check, but the fact was I already called the warranty company and told me I was able to. Was that another way of tyring to trick me? So when I went back for the appointment that i made with HER, I waited 10-15 minutes and it was with the assistant manager of the finance department (who tried to convince me to not cancel the warranty). Anyway, please be careful. Not that I don't recommend Hondas, I just don't recommend Melanie Maloney. P.S. When she gave me a quote for the life insurance and disability, and warranty the number she gave me was biweekly. Which made it look less than what it was. She only gave me the total when it was time to sign the contract, and made me feel guilty/dumb if I cancelled after she's "explained" everything. Again, yes I have myself to blame for that but just sharing my experience so that someone else does not get pressured and tricked into buying policies that they do not need. More
