Just out right poor service! We brought my wifes new Ranger in for the same problem 3 times. The first time we brought the truck in with a parking assist sensor that was consta We brought my wifes new Ranger in for the same problem 3 times. The first time we brought the truck in with a parking assist sensor that was constantly going off every time you started or stopped the vehicle after we went through the car was. It was early winter, it was very cold on this day. Please keep in mind we also checked to make sure no ice was on the sensor just in case it was something simple. Scheduled the vehicle in, asked them to check the sensors and find and explain how to disable them so we could keep our sanity if it ever happened again (Imaging a screaming alarm every time you start or stop, we are city drivers and this happens lots, 5 lights will drive you to scream). our appointment was a few days later, of course it warmed up and the annoying sensor stopped. When they looked at the vehicle they couldn't replicate the problem, Understandable response, No instructions provide don how to disable this (owners manual was pointing to a setting in the instrument cluster). It was really warm and you can't have ice when the outside temperature is in the positives. My Wife was told next time it happens bring it straight back and they will get someone to drive with her right away to see it happen first hand Second time next cold snap decide to take the truck to a local wand wash, Maybe the angle of the automatic car wash caused us the issues. Towel dried off the front of the car to ensure not water would form to ice over the sensor. Half hour later outside, Screaming park assist sensors. My wife takes the truck to the service, she is told they are to busy to have someone ride in the truck, but book it back in for the next day (Supposed to head into the positives the day it is scheduled) So on the morning I arrive at the dealership and keep it parked outside so as not to warm up the sensor. Explain again what it is doing, and that it will stop as soon as it warms up. So I don't want to bring it inside so hopefully they will look at it before it warms up. Late in the day we finally get the call. Can't recreate the problem!!! WE are seriously frustrated at this point. Demand to speak to someone above the service adviser. Especially since they ignored the vehicle till late in the day after it warmed up outside. WE are promised next cold snap bring it back we will wash it and see if we can recreate it, An apology was given for not looking at it right away. We are told you cannot shut off the park assist sensors, as they are a safety item and cannot be disabled, just like ABS brakes. Look at the calendar and see about a week down the road supposed to ignorantly cold again, fantastic. As the temperature dropped We ran the vehicle through the automatic car wash, Sensor acts up again. I take it back to the dealership the next morning, Demand that someone get in the vehicle as promised to see this sensor acting up. After having to raise my voice, and get angry. Finally they put a technician in the vehicle with a laptop and we drive around the parking lot! Wow this is great, finally someone else understands what we are going through. They promise to look at it and work on it. YAY, we get the call it is ready for us to pick up. We are told they will explain everything when we get there. That is were the happiness ended! We get there and are told that it is a micro thin layer of ice (only on the one sensor) that they successfully recreated and solved by letting it warm up. Well if you can create in on one sensor, why can't you recreate the exact issue on ALL the sensors. Silence! They did manage to figure out and show us the button to disable the Parking assist sensor. This really bugged me all night long... Micro thin layer of ice... I decide this is a major load of bull. Call the other ford dealership in the city (Capital Ford, whom does all my service on my super duty). for a second opinion.Guess what. They followed the service procedures as direct by Ford and solved our problem on the first crack! They found moisture in the electrical connector for the problem sensor! More
