There was a delay out if Adi's control, but he stayed in touch with me through the delay. Adi helped with the test drive, paper work and change over of vehicles. He listened to me, instead of talking all the way through and it showed that he wanted to help me trade my SUV for something newer. Kudos brother! More
My household has bought and regularly maintained two vehicles with Bennet. I was a big fan of these people because, Apparently, I'm dumb. I took my car to quicklane for regular maintenence yesterday. This time happened to be for a lot of things (oil change, Transmission flush, hot oil flush, injector service and tire rotation) to be exact. It all cost a reasonable amount of money. When i went out to my car after service. My outdoor temperature reading was -40, it was -1 outside today. I sat and read through my service documents then drove a bit and it never changed. I went straight back and advised. Was told they never did any work anywhere near where the temperature sensor is. They don't know what's happening and don't think it's their fault. "Drive it a bit, if it's still broken tomorrow come back and we'll take a look." I asked if there was a reset like there is for oil life. They said not to their knowledge. Ok fine i guess, i left I went back to work and began researching the issue. I found that the ambient temp ties into the automated climate control and if the car thinks its -40 outside the air conditioner compressor would never kick in as a failsafe so, bye bye a/c, as well as trying harder than it needs to to heat to desired temp potentially having an effect on mileage. I thought there must be a way to reset it. I found a couple articles and a YouTube video illustrating a way to reset the anbient temp sensor even showing the issue reading exactly -40. In the end I found 3 variations of basically the same process. I tried the first 2 variations and they didn't seem to work so i stewed a little longer. I thought, they had my car 2 hours. It went in working, i thought it should come out the same way and the odds of a coincidental failure were pretty slim so i decided to go back again. I arrived and explained my case. What i had found, i was told they had no knowledge of a way to reset the sensor but they agreed to have a second look. They took it back in the shop, then back out of the shop saying everything looks fine they're not sure why it's happening but that a journeyman from the main service center would need to have a look at this point. I asked when and who would pay for that. I was told they're booking into next week and if it was determined that it was something they did, there would be no cost but if not i would have to pay the diagnostic fee. By now I'm super not happy. I was then offered that they would cover half the fee regardless. I appreciated the sentiment but I asked for a manager at this point. I spoke to him about the issues and explained what i had found. He also said he wasnt aware of a reset or that the ambient temp has any effect on climate control at all. However he had me into the main service center first thing in the morning. I agreed to this and left for the evening. Angry While sitting in my car outside before leaving, i tried the third variation of reset process i'd found online while waiting inside. By the time i hit the street the temp changed to -39, a half km away -23, by the time i got home ten mins later it read a reasonably correct -4. Well what do you know, the reset worked. Something shady happened yesterday. The fact that i managed to diagnose and fix this issue by researching on Google and YouTube while being told there was no reset, is mind boggling to me. Especially when it had already been "examined" a second time. What are you doing? I get that there's no money in me being able to do these things myself but why not quietly do it yourself to be able to say "oops sorry" and get me out of the lobby. It appears that you can get more "expert" service from the internet than at Bennett. That's pretty sad. I'll monitor the temp reading for a few days myself but i didnt take it in for service this the morning, or, likely ever again. I don't feel like there's any point. My lifetime powertrain warranty is a third party administered insurance ( i found out by reading a better business bureau complaint) and if this is what it takes to get a sensor reset, i have no confidence in a claim being less than a nightmare. I'll be going back to my independent mechanic i used for years with no issue for years before buying this car. More
