They tried to fix it, took it back a day later and they 'replaced it' - at least it says that on the bill. Left Ottawa and continued traveling. The door handle started sticking within a week. On the subsequent warranty tune up, told the dealer that it had been replaced in Ottawa. Upon checking, the dealer said that it had been 'braised', and was not a new part. The invoice says that the Ottawa dealership replaced the handle, yet they obviously didn't. Had I lived in Ottawa, I would have gone directly back to the dealership. This is a case of fraudulent repairs but as a visitor I haven't got the energy to complain long distance. More

My son drove that vehicle when he was 18 and we still have founds memories of that van. In 2005, I bought a Prius 2001 which I still have today. Today I returned to Mendez this time for service. I went for an oil change for my 2009 Corolla. I managed to get a walk in appointment (any week days after 1:00 PM). The technician filled the paper work and the job was done within an hour. While I was waiting for my car, I saw the gentlemen who sold me the Prius 9 years ago. He recognized me and even remembered where I lived. I was impressed by his professional allure and pleased to see that Mendez staff seems happy and remains loyal to this dealer. Overall, I recommend Mendez Motors for service. The winner is the consumer (me) as I am getting synthetic oil for both vehicles, only two oil changes per year are necessary to keep both cars in top running condition. At $55.00 (inc taxes) its a bargain compared to chain stores. My 5 cents opinion and review. Gilles Laframboise Ottawa. More

Was quickly told that I needed a new headlight assembly which would cost $1300(not including labour). Took the car home and after doing a bit of research, realized that replacing a $300 part would solve the problem. Went back to the dealership and asked why the entire assembly needed to be replaced and they played dumb and admitted that they don't know much about their own vehicles. Very dishonest and will never do business with them again. More

I I have been going to Mendes since 1992 and always trusted them. Recently, since the new building was completed, the customer service has decreased. I just read all the reviews and the person who outlined that every car had recommendations was correct except in one case. I was there for three hours today so I paid close attention. Mr. R. Lacroix, the Service Manager, used to sit with the staff and things were much more efficient. Now you can wait forever until you work up the nerve to ask behind the cold new barriers (desks) and then, your car magically appears! Also, the staff used to be friendlier which eases the pain of parting with a lot of money to fix your car! Mr. Mendes, go back to the old ways as it was so pleasant! I must say that I called another Toyota dealership which I would never have thought of doing. Take a look at your staff in the service department. Two of them require re-training and they have been there a long time but forget what they once knew in dealing with the public! More

The car was taken away by a parking valet that put an identification number inside the car and drove it to a parking lot where the technician would pick it later. Right after that, I checked the car because I saw him having trouble with parking . When I checked my car I saw that the front spoiler was scratched on the passenger side. After that I immediately complained to the Fixed operations Manager, Ray Lacroix - who said that the car was damaged before that and he offered to put paint on it to fix it. He said that I am lying and that I just want my car to be fixed for free. I left the dealer without the recall fixed. This is the worst customer service experience ever, they have no respect for customers, and they are not professional. Again, I was humiliated and left with the worst customer experience in my life. Who goes to a dealer, as the manager claimed, for a supposed 10 dollar paint job , when I had an appointment for a Toyota recall ? It is alarming to find out that a huge dealership like Toyota has employees that are not trained to drive customer's cars safely within a parking lot. After all, it was Toyota that made me waste my time to fix their recall mistakes and on top of that, now there are more mistakes to fix thanks to them, as its employees damaged my car and humiliated me. This is my first and the last Toyota ever. I'll go back to Honda. Shame on you Toyota ! More

I get to the dealership very early in the morning, and the people at the main reception had no idea where to send me first, so they sent me to the body shop. The service was hoooooorrribleeee, it seemed like the staff hated their job, they barely saw the car, gave me an estimate and what's next? I had no idea so I went home with a broken car confused about what to do, since people at this dealership did not give me any recommendation or guideline of what to do. I could not believe they didn't even see if the car was damaged inside. So I went the next day (yes driving a car that I had no idea if it was ok) and asked them to PLEASE assess my car properly to see if there is any mechanical damage. Finally they serviced it and told me with in a "whatever" tone "I'm sorry but your car is not recommended to be driven"..SERIOUSLY? 2 days after they tell me this?! I called another garage immediately and asked them to tow my car out of the Toyota Mendes dealership. Very disappointed, never entering this place again. More
I have been a satisfied customer of Mendes Toyota since 1994 and currently own my fourth Toyota purchased new from Mendes Toyota The service has been exceptional through all those years. Whatever is promi 1994 and currently own my fourth Toyota purchased new from Mendes Toyota The service has been exceptional through all those years. Whatever is promised to be done, is done. Each time I purchase a car from Mendes, they give me their best quote and stick to it. The price is always competative and what I consider a fair price for the Toyota being purchased. I have had each of my vehicles regularly serviced twice a year at Mendes. Service for each of my vehicles has been performed promptly and thoroughly. And at the price I was told in advance. One time they made a mistake and forgot to do something. They picked up my car at work the next day, completed the work and returned my car to work. To make sure I was satisfied. Mendes have consistently given better service than I could have expected. Recently, I needed some body work done (due to a hit and run on my car). They quoted one price, then did an extra $500.00 worth of body work, but only charged me the quoted price. They did this to make sure that I was satisfied with the finished result. In my experience, Mendes provides value for my hard earned dollars, fair negotiations and honest communications and service with a smile. I recommend Mendes Toyota without reservation. More
They have moved into the new building and they seem to have somehow forgotten how to treat customers. I waited two and half hours for an oil change and winter tires being put on the car. That is crazy! have somehow forgotten how to treat customers. I waited two and half hours for an oil change and winter tires being put on the car. That is crazy! Top that off with three Fire Alarms that were extremely loud. The new building did not have the Wi-Fi working and the television installation was not complete. When I finally told them I had another appointment I need to get to they brushed me off and gave the standard "Almost finished" response. At the two hour mark a sales/service person told me I needed extra items for my car which I know I did not need. When I told her "No" she gave me a dirty look. While waiting I did notice that every customer was called up to the counter to tell them about 'extras' that were needed. Sadly most agreed. After being made late for my next appointment I finally had to demand my car be returned to me no matter what level of completion of the service. More
There are many reputable Toyota dealers in Ottawa. Mendes is not one of them. Went in for warranty service in March 2012-Mendes replaced wheel sensor with no problem. I was informed my 2010 Corolla was under is not one of them. Went in for warranty service in March 2012-Mendes replaced wheel sensor with no problem. I was informed my 2010 Corolla was under bumper to bumper coverage until December 2012. Went in again May 2012 because the AC was not working. Was informed the car was still under warranty. Went to pick up the car and was handed a bill for $175.00 for the time spent on diagnosis. They would not release the car without payment. They claimed the car was not under warranty. I should have been informed of this prior to their "diagnosis". Their diagnosis was that there were parts missing. How could that be since the AC was working a week prior to the service visit? Cost: $1100.00 Mendes has upheld the perception that car dealers are unscrupulous. The customer does not matter just their bottom line. More

Within 20 minutes we had two phones calls from Mendes- the first from the parts Dept informing us the part was in & if we cancelled we would have to prepay any future parts and that they would be non-returnable. The second from the Service manager informing us the compressor had been in for two weeks and offering us a reduced price on the work. We will never go back. More
