I recently purchased a Kia Sportage PHEV from Turpin Kia and, while my ownership experience unfortunately began with some unexpected early issues, I want to give credit where it is absolutely due. Shortly after taking delivery, the vehicle experienced charging and hybrid-system related concerns that were understandably frustrating and concerning for a brand-new vehicle. No one wants to deal with warning messages, diagnostics, parts replacement, or uncertainty immediately after purchasing a new car. At the time, I was disappointed and worried about what the situation might mean for the vehicle. That said, the way Turpin Kia handled the issue made all the difference. Fern Turpin personally took ownership of the situation and made it clear that he cared about getting things resolved properly. He did not dismiss my concerns, minimize the issue, or make me feel like I was being difficult. Instead, he listened, stayed involved, and did everything within his power to make things right. The required repair was completed, and several weeks later, the vehicle has been performing well with no return of the original issue. While the early experience was certainly not ideal, I believe the true measure of a dealership is not whether every vehicle leaves the lot perfectly — it is how they respond when something goes wrong. In this case, Fern and the team at Turpin Kia responded with professionalism, accountability, and genuine concern for the customer. Fern clearly demonstrated that he cares about his clients and about the reputation of his dealership. That matters. Despite the initial frustration, I would absolutely recommend Turpin Kia. The sales and service experience after the issue arose showed me that this is a dealership willing to stand behind its customers and work hard to make things right. Thank you to Fern Turpin and the Turpin Kia team for taking the situation seriously and for restoring my confidence. More
