We bought a used 2025 Rav4 early Sept. The car had 41,888 km on it. I asked if the oil was changed & was assured that it was. The car now has 42780 on it Sept. 26/26 I purchased a Toyota The car had 41,888 km on it. I asked if the oil was changed & was assured that it was. The car now has 42780 on it Sept. 26/26 I purchased a Toyota OEM oil filter & a jug of 0W16 Synthetic oil. I decided to see what oil filter was on the engine. Turned out to ne a Wix. So I decided to install the OEM filter on it. The Wix filter was black in colour so I could see dirty water stains on it. When I removed it I saved the oil that came out into a clear plastic container. The oil was very dark & smelt like gasoline. this indicated the oil has been in the engine for more than a few km. So I decided to change the oil. This way I know that it is fresh. I'm a Red Seal certified Auto Technician (retired) Licensed since 1983. I've done many oil changes over the years. It pisses me off that these dealers say 1 thing & don't do what they say they did. If you want honest service, don't use a dealer. Go to a local shop & get to know the techs. Toyota Guy More
