Nov 24 - Inquired online about My first review of the dealership got removed by dealerrater.ca and my review of the dealership has not changed.. Nov 24 - Inquired online about a few vehicles. Drew Steele responded quickly with answers to all my questions. Nov 26 - Homan Rad booked an appointment for me to visit the dealership on Nov 27. Nov 27 - Met Drew Steele. We test drove a 2015 Ford F150 Lariat Sport while the dealership test drove my 2009 Ford Edge. After doing the test drives, Drew, Homan and I sat down to come up with reasonable numbers for both parties to get the deal done. During the negotiation process, Homan told me that my trade-in will come with a base number plus GST. After coming up with some numbers, Homan gave me a day to think about. Nov 28 - I gave Homan a call to confirm the numbers with him and accept them. That night, I went back to the dealership to get the deal close. When Drew and I were going through the final numbers again, the final sale price for the truck went back to the original price (the price that Homan and I did not negotiate). Drew went to Mark, the Used Car Manager, and Mark told me that he cannot honour the price since Homan is not a manager and he was not authorized to give that price. Supposedly, Mark and Homan ran the numbers and Homan was supposed to tell me that day that they can’t honour the price, but I did not receive a call from Homan at all besides the time I called him to confirm that I will be buying the truck. So I left the dealership without closing the deal. On my way home, Homan gave me call to let me know he will try to work a price again that will make both parties happy. Drew also texted me to apologize about the situation. Nov 29 - Homan gave me call back in the morning and gave me a final sale price of $1000 less than the original negotiated price (the original negotiated price was $2000 less than the original price). I accepted, which at this point I probably could’ve not have gone back to the dealership, but since I liked the truck and Drew was an awesome sales rep, I did. So that night, I went back to the dealership to get the deal done. Drew was not working that night, so I met up with Homan again to go over the price and numbers the final time and made sure that my trade-in value will include the GST (he said yes). When I went over the offer sheet I noticed there was extra charges that I told Homan I did not want. He gave me the reason for the extra charges, but I still said I didn’t want them. He then told me I can opt-out of the extra charges when I go through financing. Homan passed me on to Hailee Chang from Financing. Hailee went through the paper work with me and got me approved fairly quickly. Tyler xxxx then got in the picture to discuss other options to lower my financing rate. His offer was in order for me to lower my financing rate, I had to purchase extra warranty or various vehicle protection products. He went through the bi-weekly payments and not the final purchase price. If you weren’t careful and you got intrigued/hooked with the lower interest rate, you can end up increasing your purchase price by an extra $3,000-$5,000. Hailee Chang tried one last time to change my mind, but I still said no. Hailee Chang then showed me the final invoice that showed the final purchase/financing amount. When I went through each line, I noticed that the extra charges ($600) I did not want and told Homan, was still there. I told Hailee that Homan said I can opt-out of it, but she said that the extra charges are standard and the cost for them can be negotiated with the salesman to either increase the trade-in amount or lower the purchase price of the truck. Hailee did not call Homan about it, and at this point I was 2 hours in and was hungry, so I signed the paper work and closed the deal. I didn’t have my trade-in vehicle with me so I had to pick up the truck the following night. Nov 30 - I went back to the dealership to drop off my Edge, pick-up the truck, and pick-up the financing paperwork. Drew was the one who gave me the keys and helped me moved all my things to the truck. Drew went over all the options the truck had to offer and answered all my questions. After the final handshake, Drew apologized again and wished me luck with the new truck. When I got home, I went over the invoice and noticed that my trade-in value did not include the GST (in this case, $500) that Homan said will be included. I didn’t bother calling the dealership anymore as the paperwork has been signed and it’s not like they can give me $500 back. So, by adding the extra charges that I didn’t want and the missing GST, I bought the truck $1,100 higher than I was supposed to. They definitely got their money back. Final thought: Overall I thought the dealership does their sales process by passing their customers to other people to get the deal done. Through the whole process, I’ve dealt with 5 people. With that in mind, there’s a huge chance of miscommunication. I felt that they pass the responsibility to the next one up in the sales process. For example: Homan telling me I can opt-out of the extra charges or Hailee saying that it’s the salesman’s job to negotiate the extra charges. They boast about their transparency that they have with their customers, but I think they lacked it. On top of that, in order for me to get a lower financing rate, I had to purchase extra stuff. If they were really trying to help me get the lower financing rate, wouldn’t they give the lower rate right away instead of giving me the option to buy extra stuff? This might be another sales tactics they use in order for you to spend more. I’ve dealt with 2 dealerships prior to going to this dealership, and this is the first dealership to do this. What I’ve learned is no dealership is a like. So if one dealership goes over everything with you line by line before actually processing the financing, don’t assume another dealership will have the same process. I’ve had the truck for 2 weeks now and I’m liking it, the process of me getting the truck, not so much. I’ve filled out their customer service with the same review and I have not heard anything back from them. More
