In the process of bleeding the new fluid, a bleeder screw and brake calliper were broken by the technician, and I was charged an additional $230 for the job, doubling the quoted charge for the work I had done. I paid on the spot but after doing my research, found that this was an avoidable situation which any experienced mechanic would know to avoid. When I complained to the service department, they offered to cover 50% of the charge with a credit on my account. He blamed the damage on a faulty part. So, I contacted Honda Canada, who would accept no responsibility and blamed the mechanic/dealership. That's it. I'm done. I'm selling the Pilot and Honda has lost a long time Honda customer. I've had 3 civics, an odyssey and the pilot in my lifetime. I'm sick of being overcharged for servicing, but I always told myself that if I always serviced my vehicles at the dealer, this sort of situation would never happen - I was proven wrong at Penticton Honda. I have had good results dealing with Honda Canada in the past, but not this time. Something has changed there, and no consideration for how to treat a loyal Honda customer. More
Bait and switch pricing I recently made the mistake of taking my 1997 Del Sol to Penticton Honda to get the timing belt / water pump / tensioner job done. After calling ar I recently made the mistake of taking my 1997 Del Sol to Penticton Honda to get the timing belt / water pump / tensioner job done. After calling around to indie shops and this dealership, I was surprised that the dealership's price was the same, and in some cases cheaper than the independents. My quote from Penticton Honda was $585 for the job, labour, parts and taxes included. When I went to pick up the car, the bill I was presented with was $860. The only additional work that was performed (without prior approval from me) was the cam and crank seals ($20 for both pieces of rubber) and the accessory belts ($40). The accessory belts have to be taken off to do the timing belt job anyway, so that should not have caused an increase to the labour portion of the job. The cam and crank seals are easily accessible once the timing belt cover is off, so I would expect 1/2 hour extra at maximum to be charged for those. So $60 in extra parts, and $45 in extra labour = $105 x 12% tax = 117.60 I pointed out to the service manager Ed that there was an unexplained discrepancy between the original quote and the final bill, even with the extra parts and 1/2 hour labour (a mystery $157, to be exact). He couldn't provide any reason for the increase in price. I grudgingly paid the bill and left, and will never take any of my vehicles back to that dealer for service. For what was originally quoted as a $585 job, I was milked for an extra $157 -- 27% over the quoted price. Classic bait and switch xx. More
I am a 70 year old senior. I recently traded my car in for a 2008 Honda CRV. The advertisement said this vehicle had a trailer hitch and a roof rack. I made a deal on this vehicle only to find it did not for a 2008 Honda CRV. The advertisement said this vehicle had a trailer hitch and a roof rack. I made a deal on this vehicle only to find it did not have these items on it. They had removed these items even though the internet advertisement clearly showed a picture of my CRV with these items on it. I addressed this and they said it didn't have these items but if I wanted them they would sell them to me at cost. After going home and thinking about this I returned to this dealership and asked that they give me these options they advertised. I advised them that his was clearly false advertising as their internet ad clearly showed the photo with the roof rack and the trailer hitch. They said they would not do this but would install a hitch. They said they would call me with a service appointment to install the hitch. I have not been called and I have made several calls to the dealership and the sales person I dealt with but have not received a return call. To add insult to injury I have learned that this vehicle is from Quebec and has rust throughout the undercarriage and engine compartment. They have painted up the engine components to hide the rust and even painted the alternator, exhaust manifold, and numerous other engine components to hide the rust. This was never brought to my attention . There are plenty of rust free BC vehicles I could have purchased had I not been deceived by this dealership. More
