Overpricing and Up-selling PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE: After 13 years of dealing with 2 Ford dealerships in Manitoba, my experience had been more then positive. A total of 5 person PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE: After 13 years of dealing with 2 Ford dealerships in Manitoba, my experience had been more then positive. A total of 5 personal vehicles and a multitude of business vehicles afforded me the opportunity to believe that having my vehicles serviced at a Ford dealership would be fair, honest and reasonably priced. As well, the service done would be properly done. CURRENT EXPERIENCE: Following my relocation to the Duncan area (2013), and the need to have my 2009 F150 inspected and serviced, I looked forward to a positive experience at my (new) neighbourhood Ford dealership. A March 2014 service resulted in the recommendation to replace the pressure hose on the power steering unit due to a "leak". Part quoted $180 - Labour $316 = $560 with taxes. Aghast at the price I went to Canadian Tire to get a quote. Part $140 - Labour $120 = approx. $400 with taxes. Canadian Tire ADVISED THAT THE PART WAS MADE BY AND ONLY AVAILABLE FROM ONE MANUFACTURER. Part number provided. An independent parts supplier had the same part, same manufacturer delivered to my residence for $75 - taxes included. This past week while booking a 100,000km service I was advised that all fluids (brake, engine and transmission) would have to be changed, along with spark plugs, tune up and multipoint inspection. Quote provided - $1,500.00. Aghast at the price, I contacted my former Manitoba dealership to get a quote from them for the same service as described. 100,000km service - all fluids, plugs, inspection and tune up - $500. A call to the Victoria Ford dealership provided a quote of $1,000 for the same service with the comment that the "special spark plugs for your vehicle" - installed would be $250 - "which is a significant portion of the cost". Going back to the previously mentioned supplier - the spark plugs (same make and part number) are $100 total. An hour to install with a shop rate of $65 = $190 parts/labour and taxes included. CONCLUSION: The power steering hose was not required since it was determined there was NO LEAK, NO LOSS OF FLUID, NO NEED TO REPAIR. Had I called, been advised, and authorized the repair, I would have been ripped for an unneeded repair bill of $560. Averaging the quotes between my former Manitoba dealership and the Victoria dealership for the 100,000km service - Island Ford is DOUBLE THE PRICE. In addition, after reviewing owners maintenance manual - spark plugs are to be changed at the 144,000km service - NOT 100,000kms. Based on the above evidence, I can only recommend - particularly after your vehicle has exceeded the warranty period/mileage - AVOID TAKING YOUR VEHICLE TO ISLAND FORD. There is no need for you to pay for their new building. More

Over the Moon Dave Faithful was recommended to me by a co worker, I am so happy I checked him out at Island Ford. Dave found me my dream car, even better than what Dave Faithful was recommended to me by a co worker, I am so happy I checked him out at Island Ford. Dave found me my dream car, even better than what I thought I wanted. He heard me when I told him what I was looking for in a car and he said be patient and I will find you the perfect car....and he did. I have never bought from a dealership before but now I will recommend it. Dave's friendly, honest, caring and sincere personality made it very easy for me to trust him. I will recommend Dave to anyone I know who might be looking for a good new or used car. If I find myself wanting another car I'll go see Dave Faithful. Sincerely Vernie Francis More
ASK FOR DAVE! When I responded , in person, to Dave's 'phone invitation to view & drive a 2015 F150 I jumped at the offer. I was first given a tour of the vehic When I responded , in person, to Dave's 'phone invitation to view & drive a 2015 F150 I jumped at the offer. I was first given a tour of the vehicle pointing how it was different from my 2013 F150 and making the comparison with my vehicle to get an "apples to apples assessment" Right away I was interested in purchasing a 2015 model. He put plates on, ensured there was gas in the tank, & sent me on the way only saying "please return it by 4p.m." I had a brand new F150 all to myself for the day! Sure beats the xxxx out of a tour around the block! I was impressed by his confidence that an expensive vehicle would return in 1st class shape. It is nice to see a salesperson trust a prospective client. Dave built a bond between Client & company in very short order. Dave works hard and obviously likes (no loves) his job! On another level He presents a reality trade value as well as the total price. With Dave I have never had to bargain. We somehow manage to arrive at figure at square one. I dislike haggling over price but I was always did it because the figure was too high for me to accept. We are NOT rich people but not poor either. Getting GOOD VALUE IS ALWAYS IMPORTANT TO ME and I felt comfortable and ended up buying a total of three F150s over a decade. This morning, Dave 'phoned too see how I felt about the truck and asked if there was anything he could do. Good Back up care is always important & Dave does that ... in spades. All in all, we are pleased with Dave's service & commitment. He is truly an important part of the company's reputation. I believe I could have sent my wife in to purchase the F150 and having her drive away paying a fair value. Cameron & Deane Casconå More
