We purchased a brand-new Toyota RAV4 XSE and noticed a humming noise shortly after taking delivery. The noise was most noticeable at highway speeds, particularly around 95 km/h. This is why it took about humming noise shortly after taking delivery. The noise was most noticeable at highway speeds, particularly around 95 km/h. This is why it took about a week to notice, as we first heard it when we drove the vehicle on the highway. We returned the vehicle to the dealership multiple times to have the issue investigated. During our second visit, we specifically asked the dealership to inspect the tires, wheel alignment and wheel bearings. We were told that everything had been checked and was fine, but the humming continued. The dealership then removed the bug deflector, thinking this may have been causing the noise. However, when we drove the vehicle home, the noise continued, so we returned to the dealership and had the bug deflector put back on. At that point, the dealership opened a case file, as they could also hear the noise but could not pinpoint the cause. Also during our second visit, we were asked whether their technician could take our brand-new vehicle home overnight to try to diagnose the issue. We found this unusual, particularly because the dealership is in Georgetown and the technician lived in Cambridge, so we declined. After more visits and further investigation, the dealership eventually swapped the original tires with tires from a demo RAV4 on their lot. The difference was immediately noticeable — the humming was drastically reduced. Although my son can still hear a slight humming noise, the tire swap strongly indicated that the original tires were a significant cause of the problem. Because this was a brand-new vehicle, we asked the dealership to replace the original tires with new tires rather than leave our vehicle equipped with used tires from a demo vehicle. We were initially told that the demo tires had approximately 5,000 km on them. We were later told that they had only 2,900 km, and we brought this discrepancy to the dealership’s attention. On August 6, I called the dealership and the manager told us that he would verify the mileage on the demo tires, contact Toyota regarding the tire issue and get back to us. In the meantime, we were told to continue driving on the demo tires. Despite that commitment, we have received no update, explanation or proposed resolution. What has been particularly frustrating is that throughout this entire process, we have consistently been the ones having to follow up with the dealership. Despite five visits and being told the matter would be escalated to Toyota, there has been very little proactive communication or follow-up from the dealership. The vehicle was purchased and picked up on June 25, 2026, and it is now August 24, 2026, and this issue has still not been resolved. We have gone back and forth to the dealership five times. What should have been an exciting new-car experience has instead become frustrating and disappointing. The dealership’s handling of this matter has been disappointing. The problem appeared within the first week of ownership, yet it took multiple visits before the tires were properly identified as a likely source of the noise — despite us specifically asking during our second visit for the tires to be inspected. We purchased a brand-new vehicle and expected to receive one that did not have an unexplained humming noise from virtually the beginning of ownership. While the demo tire swap has significantly reduced the noise, leaving our new vehicle equipped with used tires is not an acceptable permanent resolution. After five visits to the dealership and almost two months of ownership, we are still waiting for this matter to be resolved. The entire experience has taken away from what should have been an exciting new-car purchase. More

Had a problem with the vehicle not shutting down. Called service and got flipped to voice mail and left a message. Waited an hour or more before calling again and was directed to voice mail. Called Called service and got flipped to voice mail and left a message. Waited an hour or more before calling again and was directed to voice mail. Called the reception who promised to connect me to service.Called twice more to reception. Again, landed in voice mail xxxx. They came and grabbed the car without speaking to me. I was in my parking lot arguing with the tow truck driver telling him not to take the car. The guy looked like some wanna be biker from Quebec. He told me that the car was going. I am 69 years old with medical problems. What am I to do, start a fight. I gave up arguing with Georgetown Toyota acquiescing to their strong- arm tactics. This was followed by them treating me like a child and telling me what I am going do. The last contact with the service department I was told they are going to deliver the car to my ex-wife's house. Not asked but told. After more than a decade of dealing with Georgetown and at least 12 cars purchase through them, I was treated shamefully. Worse, my family has dealt with the Woods since the 1970's when, and I forgave them, for selling my mother an occasionally rolling piece of scrapped called a Cortina. I had dealt with the current dealer's father, Jack Woods in the late 90's. Things have changed. They charged me about $1200 for a TAG which another dealership in the Humberview Group charges 599.00. I suspect this review will disappear. More
