Terrible Experience at Gateway Toyota The only reason I bought from them was because they had the vehicle I wanted. That's it. I’d never recommend them because: 1) Painful Sales Process The only reason I bought from them was because they had the vehicle I wanted. That's it. I’d never recommend them because: 1) Painful Sales Process - transparent and shameless in their intent to up-sell. Furthermore, it was the only dealer that wouldn’t let me test drive on my own. Really? A husband and wife in their 40s need a chaperone? Your competition is fine with it. Negotiations were standard dealer bogus/mumbo-jumbo and the only reason I got any discount is that I waited until the last couple days of the month (where they want to meet sales quota to get bonuses). Jimmy Qi – you get an “F”. 2) Mediocre Detailing - their detailing of the car was 7/10. I pointed out a number of items that weren't cleaned satisfactorily, which they scrambled to resolve at the time of pick up and they did a lousy job. 3) TERRIBLE Post-purchase customer service - moldings started coming off the vehicle within a few months of purchase. Literally, three fell off from city driving (<1000km). After the service department inspected the vehicle I was sent on my way as they had to look into things a bit more. After a few days they had their sales manager, Ivan Tse, call. His job was to verbally beat me up and have me surrender. Their claim, it’s been months since I bought it, so they won’t do anything about it. Really, moldings just start falling off the car you sold me and you won’t take care of it? Even the service tech inspected it knew something was up. There was some vehicle history they weren't sharing with me and because of it they proposed solution was to pay half for cost of the repairs, which they estimated at $600. I was incredulous, the conversation ended with me yelling at Ivan and hanging up on him. I called my mechanic to take care of the repairs. West Mountain Auto was fantastic, they ordered the moldings and installed them for $125.00. That’s right the TOTAL was $125. Gateway wanted to “split” $600 with me! F’n jerks. More
