Good Afternoon Bluesclues, As I am sure you can appreciate with close to 300 vehicles in stock from $2,000 to $85,000 we often have customers wanting to “test drive” vehicle. Some are serious while others are just "car passionate people" passing time. With over the 30 years selling cars, we have tried many different sales approaches. Some have worked and other not so well, but we continuously strive to improve our way of doing business. One of the things that our customers have repeated over the years is that they hate is the “game” that cars dealers play of inflating prices just so customers can negotiate it back to where it should have been in the first place. The good negotiators get a good deal while Mr. and Mrs. Jones pay more than they should have. We looked at hugely successful companies like Costco, Walmart or even Home Depot, and one of their keys success factors is that they put their best price forward immediately. They don’t start high and drop prices when it doesn’t sell, or adjust prices for customer A and not customer B. They would rather sell at lower profits but get substantially more volume. In 2008 we implemented the same philosophy. All our prices are prominently placed on each vehicle and that’s the final price all our customers pay. Since adopting this model, we have more than tripled our volume and most customers tell us they actually prefer that transparency. We understand we cannot please all customers and some people, perhaps like yourself, still like the thrill of the negotiation. We have opted to give all customers the best price out of the gate and our success speaks for itself. We are the fastest growing pre-owned dealership and have one of the highest customer satisfaction ratings in Ontario. As far as test drives go, we do not support our sales associates going on test drives unless they have taken the time to listen to your needs and budgets. It’s may be fun to drive $25,000 cars but if your budget is only $15,000 we both know it’s nothing more than a test drive… any that’s not what we are in business for. Because you did not leave your name on this review, we can only go by deductions but, if our records are accurate, you were served by Sean, one of our sales associate. Because of our huge selection, one of the important questions our sales associates need to know is your budget. You told Sean your budget was $10,000 but yet were asking to test drive cars in the $14,000 - $16,000 range. Both Sean and Ken, our sales manager were trying to find a vehicle that fit within your budget. Had you said your budget was $14,000 - $16,000 Sean and Ken would have gladly showed you those cars. I am sure you understand that our goal is to help our customers find a vehicle that meets all of their criteria including budget to ultimately earn a “sale” in the end.
