Test drives and dives Went into canmore Chrysler with the intention of doing a couple test drives and finding out if it was even affordable. Get an idea of what they had and compare to other options. Made it clear we were NOT interested in purchasing a car on the same day. Test drove two used “certified pre-owned” jeeps. On one the brakes were rough and clearly needed to be replaced. I asked salesman he said “well it’s a used car”. With the other there was something lose and rattling in the front end. I also knew more about both vehicles than the saleman did. It felt like I was at an old Italian shoe store with some greasy salesman trying to squeeze me into a shoe two sizes too small. With antiquated sales techniques aimed at confusing the customer, less than no wiggle room, and throwing the Hail Mary inviting us into the owners office to try and convince us to buy that day, It Almost seemed clear their sales margin came before their customers satisfaction. Also took my girlfriends Cadillac in to see what trade in value is, he offered 9500. Carfax valued the car at 15000. I understand that trade in prices are lower because they need to resell it. But 5500 seemed like a big margin. long sorry short, Subaru offered 12500 as a trade in and worked with us on the price of a new vehicle of the SAME VALUE and we came in $50 under our monthly budget. All the staff other than our salesman were kind, helpful and seemed very genuine. More
