I’m not someone who writes reviews typically, but this dealership definitely needs the public to be aware of their practices.
After buying 4 vehicles here over 13 plus years I’ve seen an obvious change in service and care of customer since it’s take over in 2019, sadly.
I have taken all of my concerns to multiple managers and NONE have responded.
First we took in our 2011 Lincoln MKZ for front end issues and after receiving a call from our service advisor that the repair cost would exceed $3500-4000 we decided to purchase a new to us Ford vehicle at Universal.
Long story short, we gifted the MKZ vehicle to our daughter. After driving it for over a month she decided to take the vehicle back to Universal with the thought that she might get the work done herself.
The dealership could not find our paperwork in our file, so they offered to redo the diagnostic testing for her for free.
On completion they advised her that the repair work would cost her about $1700.
Shocking to us as we would not have chosen to buy a new vehicle had that been our cost.
Secondly, we took in our 2017 vehicle that was under extended warranty for noises in the front end. We had approximately 2-4 months left before our extended warranty expired.
After having our vehicle for 10 days they said they couldn’t find where the noise was coming from and returned the vehicle to us.
As the noise was audible and extended warranty close to expiring we took our vehicle to another dealership in North Calgary who immediately heard, acknowledged and preformed over $4000 in warranty covered work.
Next, the vehicle that we bought to replace our MKZ was sold to us without recall work being performed. When we purchased the vehicle we were assured that it had been completed, but when talking with the other North Calgary dealer they had shown us that it wasn’t done.
And finally, after being reassured that someone at Universal would look into our issues and requesting us to provide all paperwork of repairs done at the other Ford dealership, no one will reply back.
Many attempts have been made to contact them.
Sad after being loyal customers for many years to Universal Ford Lincoln Barlow, we will not be returning to a company that is so unaccountable for their service practices.
