Great info, just to confirm i'm understanding correctly, you got a used fob, one from a junk yard or something, but it was definitely from a different vehicle....not a after market new item? last Question, what year is your vehicle? I have to admit I am of the understanding that a fob that has been programmed to a vehicle [meaning it has been vin encoded] can not be programmed to a different vehicle [different vin]. Unfortunately all My husband remembers is that the advisor who didn’t have time for us was with a male. The second time we made contact it was with a female advisor. At our appointment I dealt with John, who was plesent however didn’t actually explain anything beyond “it’s not possible”.... which in fact was and I just had our used key fob reprogrammed today at another dealership in a different city.

The fob we wanted programmed did belong to another dodge vehicle. Year of our vehicle is 2009. The dodge dealership that I got the work done at gave us 60/40 odds that the fob would be able to be reprogrammed. And it was suscessfully done.

I contacted Chrysler tech line, they have confirmed that a remote that has been programmed to a vehicle will not re program to another vehicle as they are married to the vin they are programmed to. We would not want to perform and charge a client for a service we feel will not work, such as trying to program a used remote that would not work. In the end you got a remote to work, I suspect it likely was an aftermarket item that had not been programmed. These we have run into and the are a 50/50 sort of thing, some do seem to take the programming, some not so we stay away from them as well. Regards, Sam Fairhall Dealer Principal

I have reviewed your situation with our Service Manager as well as Chrysler. Please keep in mind that the manufacturer provides the vehicle warranty overage not the individual dealer. We as the dealer are paid by the manufacturer to complete repairs meaning we are more than happy to complete repairs under the manufacture guidelines. As per your owners manual, OEM warranty covers manufacturing defects not wear and tear or damage. The front lower fascia on your vehicle is damaged, and is not defective. We did contact the manufacturer on your behalf re your radio buttons worn off, again wear and tear. You may contact FCA directly at 800-465-2001 to voice your concerns.
