Hello James: My disappointment with your team is because I have had ongoing issues that have never been properly diagnosed and/or fixed. I have always come to your dealership for maintenance, service and peice of mind checks! Your techs have never found the solution to the issues. When I called your service rep. he basically told me there was nothing he or Chrysler could do, other than more inspections and of course more money!? My take on the situation is that the problem had never been resolved properly and I should not be stuck paying for faulty parts because of miss-diagnosis for this lengthy period...

Hi Dillon I’m sorry to hear that your service experience was not a positive one. I have reviewed the details with the team members involved in the diagnosis of your truck. Because your truck has an electric power steering system and the check engine warning light was on, our technician performed an electronic diagnostic scan. The only active code present was the for the battery sensor circuit. He performed the manufacturer’s flow chart procedure to confirm which component in the circuit was causing the warning light to stay on. The test confirmed the battery sensor itself had failed. When the service advisor, technician and yourself were discussing the findings, they indicated: - the power steering was functioning normally at the time of testing - the only diagnosable failure present was the battery sensor - even though the sensor may cause numerous voltage issues, there was no way to confirm its relation to the electric power steering concern - the battery sensor was an issue that should be addressed even if it didn’t correct the steering issue After this discussion you agreed to proceed with the repair. Everyone would have preferred to see that repair result in a correction of both problems. We certainly work hard to prevent return visits, but sometimes intermittently occurring issues make that difficult. On your second visit, we did have the power steering failure occurring at the time of the inspection. When the rack and pinion was diagnosed, our team let you down and I apologize for that. The rack and pinion part number that was used in your quote was incorrect and was not the one needed for your model of truck. This made the price inaccurate by a significant margin. Overbilling was not our intention. This part could not have been installed in your truck, we would have discovered the error long before an invoice was created. Again, I apologize for this mistake and the inconvenience that it caused. It sounds like Eastern has installed the rack and pinion and all mechanical issues are now resolved.
