Didn't feel pressured, when i knew what I wanted, till I took it for a test drive they made some changes that myself didn't care for, so I ended up purchasing a truck through Nick Diver one of the salesman took it for a test drive they made some changes that myself didn't care for, so I ended up purchasing a truck through Nick Diver one of the salesman, I got some really good incentives from GM, Nick was not pushy at all ,very accommodating ,very patient with showing me features on the vehicle and very attentive to all my needs, yes would deal with Nick and Michael again in the future so far good thanks Kathie More
In mid December my personal vehicle was hit by a transport truck. The insurance company wrote it off. I had my previous vehicle for 10+ years. I had made the original purchase from Stonleigh Motors transport truck. The insurance company wrote it off. I had my previous vehicle for 10+ years. I had made the original purchase from Stonleigh Motors in Midland. The truck was great, the people were fantastic and everyone was open and up front from the beginning. Flash forward 10+ years. I return to the small town of Midland for the upfront honest service I received the last vehicle purchase. This time was a different story. I explain my situation, my truck is a write off, and I’ve been given less than a week to purchase a replacement vehicle. I’m self employed so that limits my options for finance. I have to buy it out right. I’m basically in a bad spot and after explaining the situation to the sales rep, I figured I was in good hands. I found a vehicle online. The price was X. After test driving the vehicle I was ready to talk some numbers. The sales rep has “the talk” with the sales manager. After a few minutes the sales rep returns with a price that’s higher than what was advertised on the internet. He diverts attention away by telling me how expensive everyone else is selling the similar truck. I rejected the offer. It makes no sense to pay more than what’s advertised. They return with a second offer. This offer is still higher than the internet price. I didn’t feel comfortable at this time so I left. I’m in a desperate situation to buy but for some reason I’m getting inflated pricing. That night I’m surfing the web and the truck from Tom smith, that I just test drove is still listed for a lower price, taxes in, compared to what I was offered. I can’t believe what I’m seeing. Monday rolls around, the sales rep calls me and I brought to his attention the price difference. He explains to me that there are license fees. That did not total the cost I was offered, and was more expensive than the internet price. Then he explains that they build waranty costs right into the sales price. No matter if you want them or not ..... that troubling part is, every combination of “hidden fees” they add in, never totalled the amount I was presented in the dealership. So they actually inflated the costs and added some hidden fees to take advantage of my desperate situation. If you’re looking for over priced vehicles, hidden fees, and shady service, this is your dealership to shop at. I feel bad for the individuals that recently purchased from Tom Smith and were over charged with the hidden fees. I feel even worse because the move was made by a manager at the dealership to take advantage of a poor customer. I feel bad for the sales staff that try their best to help customers, just to have managers try and hustle customers. What a sickening way to conduct business in a small town. I was able to find a similar vehicle than the one I test drove at Tom Smith. After one phone call to Uxbridge GM I was given fair pricing, and honest service. I made the purchase from Uxbridge. A place I should have gone to first. They talked to me and met my needs. They didn’t bash other dealerships pricing, they didn’t hide any fees, and they treated me fairly from the minute I called. Appraisal of my Jeep I had this dealership appraise my 2016 Jeep Cherokee Limited. I also had two other local dealerships in Oakville do the same. Both dealerships in Oakv I had this dealership appraise my 2016 Jeep Cherokee Limited. I also had two other local dealerships in Oakville do the same. Both dealerships in Oakville were about $500 apart with a low of $17500 to a high of $21600. Tom Smith offered me $10000. All 3 dealerships were given the same information and pictures. Tom Smith clearly DO NOT know what they are talking about. Stay clear of purchasing anything from this place unless you loved to be ripped off. More
Excellent buying experience. Was just looking around the lot one day and was approached by a sales rep (Jennifer Parsons) quickly. She asked me if I was in the market and I said Was just looking around the lot one day and was approached by a sales rep (Jennifer Parsons) quickly. She asked me if I was in the market and I said not today but in the next few months. She got me a brochure and answered any questions I had. That was it... No pressure yet still gave me her time knowing I was not buying anything that day. I was impressed and ended up back at the dealer within 2 days. Sat with Jennifer and got a great deal on a new truck. Zero pressure sales! I got a fair dollar for my trade in too. There were issues getting the truck I wanted (dealer trade) and it took 2 weeks to get the truck I wanted. Jennifer gave me daily updates and stayed in constant communication throughout. I couldn't get the truck I ordered, but Jennifer worked her magic and found me a better truck for an amazing deal. I couldn't be happier with the level of customer service I received. More
Scammed and Threatened Boycott Tom Smith Chevrolet for any needs. Back in 2011 I bought a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze LT, I loved it; except for the known issue of paint peeling a Boycott Tom Smith Chevrolet for any needs. Back in 2011 I bought a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze LT, I loved it; except for the known issue of paint peeling around the wheel wells. No problem, however, as it was under warranty. It was repainted. Soon after it started to peel again, same place. Difference was, I was out of warranty. They informed me there was nothing they could do, I would have to pay out of pocket for an issue they've fixed previously. Cool. So, I took the vehicle to Jim Wilson Chevrolet, traded it in and got an amazing deal on a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze LTZ. I've dealt with them ever since, love them. But, someone rear ended me and wrote the car off. I purchased a 2013 Chevrolet Trax (from Jim Wilson, of course)! No issues up until 183,502km (which is outside of warranty). My engine died.. It's been 7 years since I last dealt with Tom Smith Chevrolet, and I like supporting the local economy, so I towed the vehicle to them. November 26, 2013: Cover: $87.65 Cooler: $312.00 Heater: $1104.83 Manifold: $362.02 Seal Kit: $121.54 Intake Gasket ($6.50 for part / $263.88 labour): $270.38 Rocker CVR Gasket labour: $98.96 Engine Misc: $180.90 TOTAL: $3,196.07 Yeah, that's a lot of money! But hey, I need a car. I agreed and paid in full on my Visa (right before Christmas, too). I have my car back. Life is good. Except... Saturday, December 8, 2018; my car dies on my way to work a 12 hour shift! I drove it MAYBE 50m from where it was parked. It put the engine into "limp mode" and I rolled to a stop. I phoned the tow truck and had it brought back to Tom Smith Chevrolet. I walk in, they greet me nicely with a smile, ask how I am. I tell them, "Bad, car is being brought in as we speak." IMMEDIATELY the next words that come out of their mouth is, "Well, it doesn't have anything to do with the work we did!" Well actually, it clearly does. Frantically, they take the Trax in and the Customer Service Representative hands me the keys to this god awful Chevrolet Orlando with heinous Tom Smith Chevrolet advertising on the side of it; but regardless, I'm grateful to have a car. This is where it starts to go south (lol). I'm clearly unhappy at this point, so I take a picture of the car and post it in the comments section of a previous post complaining about my day. Well, I guess SOMEONE didn't think that was funny (I may have said something like "Gonna drive this thing like a f***ing a**hole" and "The panties just fly off when I roll up in this bad boy"... just blowing off steam, I thought it was funny and so did others). I get a phone call, I need to bring the Orlando back immediately. Didn't think anything of it until my CSR informed me someone didn't like what I said and the owner demanded I brought the vehicle back because they may lose clientele with someone "like me" driving their car. So, they set me up with a new rental from Discount. Love it. No issues there, great company and the car was beautiful. Today: I receive a phone call, it's going to be around $900 to fix the problem, apparently it's a cooling fan? Completely unrelated to the work previously done (so they say). They demanded that they needed to know immediately if I wanted the work done and that I needed to bring the rental back before the end of the day. Way to feel rushed, eh? I walk in, warmly greeted as usual. They tell me the damage and without hesitation inform me again that it's not because of their previous work... without me even asking. I'm not a mechanic. I don't know much about engines, guilty. I do, however, know when I'm being played. I brought the car in with a dead engine and had them diagnose it and tell me what's wrong. I was ASSURED that the work was done professionally and with satisfaction guaranteed. Obviously, not.. my engine is not running just like it wasn't running when I brought it in the first time. Same symptoms as before. How can I be sure the previous work was necessary? Maybe it was just a $900 fix after all. I mean, it did the EXACT same thing the second time around as the first. How on earth is this not related?! How did they not notice the FAN wasn't working?! After a solid 15 minutes of bickering back and forth, we came to a conclusion: the car is to be removed from the shop and I would be getting the work done elsewhere! HERE'S THE KICKER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As I'm leaving I say, in a smart xxx tone, "The power of social media is a xxxx of a thing!" My CSR snaps back, "We have screenshots of your previous post, go ahead!" and " Are you sure you want to be doing that with the two public figure jobs you hold?" So now, I'm being threatened that if I take this to social media, my 2 jobs would be jeopardized because she knows where I work... THAT'S NOT OK!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was SHOCKED to hear that! Hear I am, on social media, writing my complaint. I have done nothing wrong and I have the freedom to make any complaint about my experience with a local business. To be threatened like this is unbelievable. Essentially trying to tell me that if I make a public complaint I would risk my job... unreal. My vehicle has been towed to another auto shop in town where they will review the previous work done and fix the fan. AND, I've been blocked from even being able to write a review on their Facebook Page! I will NEVER give Tom Smith Chevrolet another dime. I am absolutely jaw dropped at this experience. Avoid them at all costs. More

New/Used Purchase surprise My wife and I had purchased all of our new/used vehicles from Tom Smiths. Everytime we were always treated very well. Including when we just purchased My wife and I had purchased all of our new/used vehicles from Tom Smiths. Everytime we were always treated very well. Including when we just purchased a 2011 Equinox LT. The salesperson was easy to talk to and made my wife feel very comfortable. My wife does not normally talk to someone, she does not know, for something like this. (always Nervous) But the salesperson made her so comfortable, to my amazement, she went to talk to him, without me, first time ever!! Anyways, my wife loves the vehicle! Within the first month I had brought the vehicle back to the dealership to have something looked at. They immediately took care of it and said everything else was fine, with the vehicle. By the third month I took HER vehicle, to get an oil change (to synthetic), before winter. It did not need an oil change but I prefer synthetic She had only driven it, in town, not many Km put on it. This is where I was surprised, the company whom did the oil change, informed me that the alignment was off(rear) and the front tire had a wear on the one side of the tire. So it looked like the weared tire was taken from the back and put onto the front, so it would have not been seen. I went back to the dealership, to inquire. I spoke to the head of sales and then to service and they could not explain it but they were willing to do an alignment, at a cost. I figured, from past experience at this dealership, that some sort of explanation or assistance would be offered, but no. I never thought this would happen, here, but it did. I thought a certified vehicle had to be checked for alignment, with all other checks, but I am not a mechanic and I was wrong, I guess. So anyways make sure to ask before you purchase, just to be safe. My wife still loves the vehicle but for now, until we can afford it, she is driving extra cautiously, until we can buy new tires and get an alignment. The team there are great but I cannot figure out why something like this could happen. It is stressing and upsetting. This is not a full complaint but just a heads-up to other customers. More
