I wasn't going to leave one at first until the manager asked to "Please not put this on social media, as it has happened before and it's bad business" (well well..) but this is the absolute worst dealership/company I have EVER dealt with, a major nightmare to say the least. PLEASE do yourself a favor and visit another Hyundai dealership to purchase your vehicle.. here is our story (it's long, but worth the read) - On Saturday July 12, 2014 we went to purchase a brand new 2014 Genesis, the salesman (Jordan Brown) was extremely kind and helpful and took us for a test drive, when we came back to the dealership and started talking numbers, his manager (Chris Baidoun) took over since Jordan was a new addition to the team and was still learning. Chris asked us what price he had to make for us to sign a deal that same day, we said 25$ off the MSRP price, bi-weekly, and we absolutely wanted the car in WHITE. He "made" it happen, but said that he had to find a white one at another dealership (we were fine with waiting) so we shook hands, signed, dealt with the finance manager (Patrick Basque) and gave a 500$ cash deposit (plus - he said that in total he gave us $4,500 off the total price, so we were very happy). On Sunday, for some reason, my gut feeling told me to go "build and price"a Genesis like the one we purchased, on the Hyundai Canada website. I realised that Chris had given us $16.80 off the MSRP bi-weekly price, NOT 25$, plus, when we started talking numbers, he started off with a price of $7.20 bi-weekly OVER MSRP. (Is that even legal? - looked it up, and no, it's not) (oh, and, he did NOT give us $4,500 off the MSRP, he gave us $1,000. $3,500 was given automatically by Hyundai Canada as an incentive) I was a bit irritated, so Monday morning at 9:00am sharp I called the dealership to speak with Chris but he was not in yet so I spoke with Jordan instead, and told him to hold off on the credit application until I spoke with Chris, he said he would deliver the message to the finance manager and have Chris call me back. When I spoke with Chris later that day, he said that there were "extra fees" that Hyundai Canada did not show on the website (B-S), he even admitted that it's not legal to start off the price over MSRP but insisted they were "fees".After a while I told him if he could not make the 25$ off MSRP bi-weekly like we originally talked about, the deal was cancelled, he told me he couldn't do that, then I said that I was coming to pick-up my 500$ deposit and the deal was off. He then proceeded to tell me that the 500$ was theirs to keep because "we took his salesman's time and his because they had already located a white one, ready to go AND he had put in the credit app" I was very frustrated and told him that I specifically asked TO HOLD OFF the credit app and he couldn't have already found a white one, we closed the deal on Saturday at 5:30pm when they were closing, so B-S, he did NOT have time to find a white one. I passed the phone over to my husband because I was ready to explode, they were able to come to an agreement and Chris said he would make the deal at 25$ off the bi-weekly MSRP price, so we were FINALLY happy that all "ended well". Tuesday afternoon - we get a call from Patrick Basque, the finance manager, he tellsus that they couldn't find a white 2014 Genesis Coupe anywhere in the Country so we had 2 options, either change our color choice, or theywould have to order one which could take up to 2 months. (WHAT? - yeah, that's what I said too) "but Chris told us you guys had found one inSherbrooke??" - yeah, total B-S.. We told him we were going to think about it and call him back. We were so frustrated and insulted that we'vebeen lied to repeatedly! .. Thursday morning - my husband calls Chris and explains that we want to cancel, because we absolutely want a white car and by the time it would come in, the 2015 would be out, he said fine and said that we would ask the general manager to prepare a check to give us back our deposit (yes, I said check, even if I paid CASH, they "supposedly don't keep cash at the dealership - (smh)" Friday morning - Jordan calls, and says "Hey, good news ! We found 2 white 2014 genesis coupes !" (OMFG, are you kidding me? - (nope)) "WHAT? How funny is this? We want to cancel and you magically find 2 white cars? HA! how ironic!" - He was totally confused and didn't know what to tell us, that he wasn't aware of the situation and he was only asked to call us and tell us they found 2 white cars. (Poor Jordan, they used him as a guinea pig so they wouldn't have to deal with us) Chris took over and said that the only reason he told us that the original car they had found in Sherbrooke was no longer available was because "it was sold, but the credit app was declined so the car had just became available". We told him we didn't care anymore we made our decision and that was it, "we are coming to pick up our deposit tonight!" The general manager (Mike Patterson) calls us and says he is not at the office and would only be in the next day (Saturday) to make the cheque, so he told us to come in at 9:00am the next morning to pick it up. (WHAT A RELIEF - can't wait to be done with this!) Saturday morning - we arrive, he asks us to sit down in his office and repeatedly apologizes for his employees actions and lies. He asks us to give us our side of the story so he could sit down with the personel involved and have a meeting. So we do. He then explains that everything that happened should not have happened, he was not impressed with his staff and again, apologized. He finishes by saying "so would you like to come pick up your check Monday or have it mailed?" - (OMG! WHAT? we only came here to help you with your investigation and you are making us leave empty handed?? - we live 40 minutes away from the dealership) ".....mailed please." Thursday, July 31st, we did not receive our check yet, so my husband calls Mike. "Oh my goodness I'm so sorry to make you wait, the person in charge of signing the checks was on vacation and..(blahblahblah) .. your check will be mailed today!" My husband - "fine, so within a couple days we should be receiving the check, right?" "Yes!" Well, today, almost 2 weeks after that last conversation with M. Patterson, (almost 5 weeks after leaving our deposit!!) - we finally have our 500$ but ONLY because I called the general Manager (Conor Reid) and left a message on his voicemail sayind we were coming down to get our deposit and if we were to leave empty handed, we would be contacting our lawyer. He called back, extremely polite saying there was no problem, to come down and they would put it directly on our debit card. (Really? I needed to use the "lawyer" word to finally get OUR money back? - pathetic)- I am so over this dealership, what a nightmare, I wouldn't even recommend my worst enemy to go to Surgenor - ever. Hopefully I save a few people from a headache. Sincerely, a very irritated, PISSED OFF customer. More
